the touch screen takes some getting used to ... the LCD is set quite low below the actual touch panel which is a lot thicker than your standard TFT LCD found in the current range of devices. Normal stylus navigation and typing etc feels very different ... i am still getting used to the accuracy.
the device is ultra thin and it has a really good feel about it. you just cant put it down.

it is an awesome little device ... but i am performance driven and after living with devices with high end processing power the touch is just wee bit under powered. not to take anything away from it, the device is super slim and the overall form factor is very appealing ... coupled with the super crazy new touch screen I see it being very popular if it is more freely available.
the adaptive touch screen is the cherry on the cake ... the device has a bit of a delay when changing from using your stylus and using your finger .. you literally see the device adjusting for the different input use.
i must say that the new touch screen has just set the standard to come.
but after a couple of years having owned just about every GSM enabled PDA available it takes a quite a bit to impress me .. lets see if the next device on the list can do that ... the iPhone
 
Why must I wait...

I really want this phone, I've been trying to find out when it'll be available in SA, because R5K is a bit much.

I've tried calling Leaf Wireless, but no-one at their sales department answers, I've tried emailing them, no reply (its been two weeks). I've emailed Vodacom to find out when they'll have stock and they sent me some generic "we first have to test the handset and we cannot confirm the date of testing..blablabla thank you for your query".

Anyone here have any idea when it will be available locally and what the price might be? or should I rather buy an import?

Vodacom3G, MTN Data Dude, ...? Any info on local availability? I would also like to know.

If your name was "The Girl" and you offered me an HTC touch for R4600 and a spankihng for R1000, youd have a deal.

Exactmall is selling it for R4999 with a warranty, the most expensive price I've seen online was R 5500.. R5600 is just to much, sorry.

Sorry bud i dont play for that team ... what i do offer is a device with full support ... Software and hardware ... in house repairs ... ps i got stock and if you do break your device I dont send your device to the other side of the world to be repaired ...
Remember at the end of the day you get what you pay for ... ask those guys with rock bottom prices about the repairs process ...
Anyone can sell anything but can it be backed up with service ... :cool:
 
I cant stop thinking about this phone, is this normal?

I emailed Leaf again and they came back to me (and apologised for bad service:))

Theyre selling the HTC touch for R4500 (excl VAT)...

Which works out to about R 5130 (incl VAT), R131 more than eXactmall, who told me that they'll honour the warranty locally (they have repair centers that deal with grey stock/parallel imports).

I'm ordering mine in a week (when the paycheck comes:o), still not sure who I should buy from...
 
R5K isn't so bad..

THis phone has the same stats as the P4350, only differences being the P4350 has a slide out QWERTY keyboard and the Touch has the new type of touch screen, WM6 and is alot smaller.

The P4350 goes for about R5700.

I see exactmall is selling (imported) LG Prada and a locked 8gb iPhone

Hi,

Does anyone know if the HTC Touch is available on the vodacom network(Contract), i spoke to a lady at my vodashop but she could be of help.
