HTC TyTN II (Codename: Kaiser)

You guys think this is a better option over the Nokia e90?

Different handsets... the E90 is bigger, but the high res screen is a MAJOR drawcard for browsing the web or working with documents

Any1 order from the expansys hk website before?
Is it reliable?

HTC Tytn II from Leaf

Just got a reply back from leaf.co.za after SMS'ing to 31040.

"Thank you for your email on the TyTN II

The expected release date for the TyTN II is October /November 2007

The expected price is R7700"

Personally, I am going to wait till they release in SA via Leaf Wireless.

Phoned LEAF today, asked when TYTN II would be available. Lady who helped me informed me in a very snotty way that it will only be end October / beginning November 2007. Damn, I was hoping to get one sooner.

I don't like Leaf... If I do get one I'd rather import it than deal wih them again.

Have you guys had a look at the Eten m800? It's almost identical to the Kaiser but has 640x480 screen (compared to the 320x240 Kaiser)and is supposed to be cheaper. You would have to import it though. Also, it uses the Sirf Star III GPS chip which is supposed to be better.

I'm having a tough time deciding cause I'm heading to Thailand next month and am definitely going to get myself one..... just don't know which.

I've also seen there are different versions of the Kaiser (i.e. Kaiser 80, Kaiser 100 and Kaiser 120) but can't find the differences. Anyone know???

Differences:

RAM: Kaiser = 128MB, Eten = 64MB
Camera: Kaiser = 3.2MPx no-flash, Eten = 2MPx flash
Screen: Kaiser = 320x240, Eten = 640x480
CPU: Kaiser = 400MHz Quallcomm 7200 Dual Core CPU, Eten = 500MHz Samsung (400MHz Quallcomm outperforms 500MHz Samsung check the cpu specs http://www.cdmatech.com/download_library/pdf/msm7200_chipset.pdf)
And of coarse the GPS of the Eten is more accurate.

I will still go for the Kaiser, since it is faster has more ram and has a better camera. Agreed that the eten has a big awesome vga screen, but that will chow you battery quite fast. I currently own a TyTn and the battery life is really crap if you use it alot so that is a big issue for me. Although the gps on a high res screen is really attractive :D

As far as I know the difference between the Kaiser versions is the cameras is has. 80 has no cameras, 100 only have a main camera, 120 have a main cam and a front cam for video calls.

Yeah, It's all nice and well to hear how great the Tytn II is going to be, just wish I could get hold of one to buy.

Yeah! Why is it taking soooooooo long for the bloody networks to get these phones out

heehee.... I'm off to Thailand in 2 weeks so am going to grab one there. I only hope I get the real thing and not one of the rip offs.

I'm still more interested in the Eten. Mainly cause it's supposed to be cheaper. The camera does't really bother me. The RAM does. But the biggest thing for me is the GPS. I've heard great things about the SirfStarIII chipset but not many good things on the Kaiser one (I forget it's name now).

one of my toys is a Eten X500+ it uses the same processor as the TyTN/Jasjam and both devices have the same amount of memory, but the X500+ is more responsive and the VGA display ... you got to love it.

the eten X800 looks really promising, the biggest advantage the Eten devices have right now is the VGA dsiplay @ 640 x 480 you have 4 times the resolution than that of a QVGA display @ 320 x 240
think of the QVGA as a playstation 2 and the VGA as a Xbox 360.

but does it really make such a big difference when viewing such a small screen?

Leaf reckons another 2 weeks or so - R7500 or so for a TyTn II

That should make it mid December for about R8k

I want one... E90 for Sale :p

And its the Exact same price as the Tytn, please be advised some "people" can/will sell it higher, even networks deal structures could be different.

That's what they said 2 weeks ago (and 2 weeks before that, and two weeks before...)

It really p*sses me off. Why can they not tell us what is going on. Something like:

"We've placed an order with HTC for xxxx devices. HTC plans on shipping the phones on XX/XX/XXXX and it should arrive in SA on XX/XX/XXXX. We will then fullfill the orders from the Network providers first and the balance of the phones will be available for direct purchase from LEAF.

OR

We already have the devices and have sent XXX to Vodacom and XXX to MTN. We don't know why they are not releasing it.

OR

We're trying to get rid of our TyTN I stock first before we place an order with HTC.

:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Serious? Then I'm going to wait for the firmware upgrade and sell my E90 (bugs fixed). Its in perfect condition, no scratches anywhere, screen protectors on inner and outer screen, in a hold open case, etc.

After this phone, I've realised how much I prefer WM over Symbian OS.
