Backup of settings and data ... not too concerned about PIM content, my MacBook Pro will just resync that ... more looking to backup the settings

Your macbook won't resync it because of this email:

Windows Mobile 6 Device Support in Development
In February, Microsoft announced its newest operating system for mobile devices: Windows Mobile 6 (WM6). WM6 introduces several enhancements, including an updated mobile Office suite and Windows Live, which integrates email, messaging, web search and more. WM6 devices are just now starting to ship from manufacturers and wireless providers.

While the currently shipping version of The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile doesn't support WM6 devices, Mark/Space engineers have been actively working on WM6 support since soon after Microsoft's announcement. Mark/Space has strong relationships with several leading device manufacturers, who have provided a number of upcoming devices for testing, and development is progressing.

If you have a device for which a WM6 upgrade is available, you might want to hold off until The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile supports WM6. If you do update your device, the current release of The Missing Sync will not be able to establish a connection with it, and you will not be able to sync it with your Mac.

We will announce our timeline and additional details in our next (June) newsletter.

(that's if you're using Missing Sync... if you're not - what are you using!?)

Oh never mind that post - i didn't read further on....
I love missing sync - it works really well (on WM5), and i've NEVER had double contacts or stuff just "Go missing" as they do with activesync

IMO i think activesync is the worst piece of software developed by Microsoft since Windows Milennium

Has anyone elso noticed a memory drain on Black 3.0. After I soft reset I have 26MB available and a day later, with nothing running I'm down to 22MB. SPB Mobile Shell is the only App I have installed.

Could someone also explain how the 64MB Ram is allocated:
Device Info shows 64MB Ram
The Memory App Shows:
Total=48.68 MB
In Use=26.52
Free=22.16
So where is the other 15MB??

The other 15 MB is pretty much the space that your standard apps take up. when you install additional apps you get a notification ... the app requires x amount of space. as well as the processes running in the back ground for the OS

everybody! wait with the new ROM flashes!

The MS bluetooth stack in all the latest build cooked ROMs are borked. It is not worth flashing until this issue is resolved. watch this space.

Mmm..... problems ? I've had none with BT in 3.0.1

Only WML acting all weird, installing the addon version from 3.0 made it a bit better. Well seems there will be a 3.0.2 version soon with some fixes.

I have my phone working and pimped to the max, so I don't see myself starting from scratch again.

Running:

WML 3.0 vers.
PA 160v17b148
O2 Plus 2.3
Battery Status 1.04.202b3
BandSwitch 1.2.3
Davis Anders Birthday Plugin
Cyb Voice Dial
Skype
Adobe LE

XDA HTC Gif animation
Esmertec Java
Black VoIP
HTweakC 2.0
Vijay 555 utils
HTX X-Button 1.5
Shozu
Kevtris

Need a good screen capture utility .......... ;-)

Mmmmm ..... found one

yeah, I'm also hesitant about a reflash if all is working. It'll be interesting to see how that settings saving utility comes along though.

has anyone had issues with battery life since flashing a newer ROM? I've had crap battery life since flashing 2.5

But I managed to sort it out completely :D Phone's been on for 36 hours now, battery at 30% :D:D:D

What add on bru?

My battery life has also increased. And i haven't had to soft-reset in like 3 days, that Xbutton comes in handy quite often. It properly kills the application.

atmo, i heard that PTT function doesn't work in SA as of yet. Apparently its like a walkie-talkie system. Yeah right as if SA will allow something like that..

Im on Black 3 with BT update, and im very happy so far..

MTN does do PTT, but only as corporate packages. It's not available for to the public.

Oh... well that's a pity - i searched through the XDA site for the Push to Talk stuff... it would seem that there isn't really support for it other than on the Cingular network.

It seems that the question mark on keyboard is no longer working and when in sms, you can no longer click on left hand side for new message, you have to click the right and then click on new.
