HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

I sent an email to Leaf, here is the response:

Hi Elias,

Unfortunately the release has been delayed due to Licensing issues.
The estimated release date is the 15’th of August.

Eish...:(

Thanks. More delays ... been anxiously awaiting this rom :(

Hey guys, hold off on updating your radios.

Leaf should release one optimized for SA networks with the new ROM. Until then, 1.43 seems the best
.

BTW, am loving sleuth's v3.1 ROM w Schaps comm manager, custels black theme and Kaiser HTC home plugin. best so far.

From what I understand (reading on xda-developers) that you cannot easily get the radio from the ROM, ie when Leaf releases the new ROM, we will have to install the ROM to benefit from the radio ... unless you guys are good in the kitchen?

You need to be more clear as to what you need ... do you have ActiveSync? If not, check my post #2817 IIRC pointing you to the download location for ActiveSync. When you install ActiveSync on your PC, you create a partnership with your phone, and select what to sync, eg. Outlook Calender, files, whatever your options are.

If you have an application for the JASJAM that you want to install, just click on the .exe file ... it will automatically run the installer, and install it to your phone via ActiveSync (make sure your phone is connected to the PC and synchronised).

If you click on the .exe, and it tells you the application is not a WIN32 application, copy the .exe to your phone using the Explore button in ActiveSync (it uses Windows Explorer, so just dump the exe exactly where you want it). Disconnect your phone, select the exe on your phone from the File Explorer (where you can also create shortcuts and what not) ... viola ... Bob's your uncle

Thanks for the reply LandyMan,

will try the activesync part.. and try to install by Synchronising between the PC and PPC.

But on ur statement to transfer the file onto the PPC and then run the ".exe", i am getting the message that "**** is not a valid PPC application".... to which ZeroFocus replied that most applications need to be installed using the PC and syncing with PPC.

I hope you got my problem identified. anyway.. i will first try the ActiveSync as you have explained. should there be a probelm i will bother u guys...

thanks once again.

Yeah, that is if you get the error that it is not a valid Win32 application. In your current case, you will need to run the exe on WinXP, which will then install via ActiveSync

tried doing it with ActiveSync but the list of programs i want to install is not shown in the "Add/Remove Programs" of the ActiveSync interface. so what you are telling me is to RUN the exe in XP and where do i save the location? in the device or on the PC? infact i even tried that and tried to save the location in the device but the device is not listed in the exe application.

hope you would come back to me ASAP on this.. as i am once again on square one.. not able to install anything.

1. Find the .exe file that you want to install
2. Click on said .exe file
3. It should install on your PC (firstly) ... just use default location for this, otherwise you might screw something up.
4. Once the installation is completed on the PC (normally just uninstall information), ActiveSync will pop up
5. ActiveSync will start installing, and tell you to check your device for further installation instructions.
6. Check your phone ... if you have a memory card of sorts, you will be prompted where to install: Device or Storage Card.
7. Make your selection and follow all additional prompts on the device that might pop up

QED

Oh, 8. Click finish (or OK) on the PC

no, it's not difficult to extract the Radio ROM. I can do it for you guys if necessary, but as it will be a new version, one of the XDA people will probably beat me to it.

Voila......

Thanks LandyMan... i really appreciate the help extended.... it worked for me.

now i think i am using only 20% of the capabilities of my PocketPC...

hmm.. will have to go through other stuff about ROMs, HERMES etc. any tutorial u suggest? and is there any harm in installing these ROMs, Radios. I am currently in UAE on the 'du' network.

Not so sure they will, as it will (might) be a custom radio for SA ... then again, everyone is using the AT&T 1.48 in any case

No problem mate.
I would suggest going to http://forum.xda-developers.com, and read as much as possible for your specific phone, and then just go for it ... It is fun to "build up" your phone the way you want it

thanks for the suggestion... i am browsing through the website now..

but it doesn't clearly mention which section "Jasjam" belongs to .. i presume its gonna be HERMES..... is it? coz its a HTC TyTn clone

Question for the technically minded among you ... is it possible to synchronise the TyTN calendar with 2 outlook accounts on my work laptop and 1 outlook account on home PC, this way I can ensure all my diaries are sync'd??

Sabre, in theory it should be possible ... Your TyTN will have to PCs listed in ActiveSync. I use a Mac, so I can't check for you
