A word of caution to anyone wanting to purchase on Smartdevices - I ordered my Tytn last week Thursday and they clearly showed the device in stock on their website and indicated a delivery time of 3-5 days. I am still waiting for a tracking number let alone delivery of the device, I have wasted many a phone call to them in the U.K. and they have kept promising me that I will be emailed a tracking number each day that I have phoned, still no tracking number and there responses to my emails and phone calls have been non existent.

The problem I have is what is my recourse - its a foreign compoany that is sitting with my money and I am not sure how I am going to get my money back should I insist on cancelling, I only recently found out that Leaf will be bringing the phone in and they have indicated that it will be avaliable at the end of this week, I will see how it progresses with smartdevices but I have given them untill tomorrow 12:00 p.m to send me a tracking number otherwise I will instruct my crdit card company to reverse the transaction due to non delivery even if I have to take a small hit.

And i planned on buying my phone from the UK. This now just confirms my fears of loosing my money and not getting my phone.. Thats why i am waiting for it rather. Get it local.

hehe. yea. And aleast, when its giving you problems you dont have to wait 2months for it to come back from uk when they have to fix it. 8) Local is sometimes lekker. Now only if the phone could sprout up at the shops soon.

Leaf has said the end of this week, I am hoping I dont get a tracking number and am able to cncel my phone as I would rather purchase it locally, as mentioned Local is lekker and for support and everything else its better, with the current exchange rate it would be cheaper to buy it locally as well.

Patience is what you need.

I ordered mine on 22 Sept, I got my tracking number this week. Apparently there's huge demand for the device resulting in shipment delays (this doesn't clear Smartdevicesdirect though...the information on availability and shipping dates on their website is misleading).

Leaf is no longer the IMATE agent, but will be selling HTC phones directly (HTC in Taiwan manufacture ALL these phones, branded differently per supplier and country). The HTC TyTn is also called the following: HTC Hermes, IMate Jasjam, Orange SPV-M3100, O2 Trion, Dopod 838, Cingular etc etc.

Just my 2c worth!!
 
with all these 2c's going around, these guys must be making alota moola! 8) eheh Mnnn, so which will be first availible in SA then? HTC or I-Mate? I dont care about the brand though, just as long as the phone is black. 8)

owm.. Now that i have just put my mind on the TyTN, this have to happen! ARG! I hate phones.. This is almost getting as stupid as pc's, you buy the best now, next week the next gen is released!! AARG!
Now how long till this baby comes to SA? 10 years?

EDIT: ok, Europe from September 2006. 8)
EDIT2: Looky >>> TyTN vs Trinity weird thing about Trinity, no qwerty. Though a stronger battery, and hsdpa. 8) but still its a touch screen only.. eewww..
