HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

Okay, nice ari~~ Now why did i just see the Leaf ad on dstv for the tytn?? HU? why? 8( Come on local sp's!! GET A MOVE ON!!
 
The TyTn ad has been flighted during Grey's Anatomy for the last 3 weeks or so. I see it was the turn of the HTC Meteor on this Monday night.
 
I guess they flighting the ads to build up some interests. I wonder how many people have pre-ordered a HTC unit from the Leaf website.
 
PDA Shop in Pta 012 362 7033 has the Dopod 838 (apparently a TyTn under another name). The owner uses his. Price ? If I remember correctly around 6 - 7k. They also stock accessories like car charger and desktop stand (which Leaf said they are not going to import) for K-Jam and Jasjam etc.

Don't run too far. Received the following reply from Leaf...
Unfortunately the networks have not yet approved the devices. They have already been testing for 7 weeks but sometimes this process can take up to three months. We are anticipating network release at the end of the month.

Thats what they said last month!! ROFL! :) Oh and quote on "anticipating", meaning "dono really, mybe, mybe never!" heheheheh :D
 
I love my TyTn. Even tho I have to soft reset about 4 times a day due to windows crashing or the phone just freezing. Otherwise it kicks ass compared to my previous phones all being Nokia.
 
JasJam vs. Skype vs. Cell networks

My only reservation at present is the proposed punitive measures all the networks are looking to apply to VoIP use.

If the network sells me a TyTn / JasJam that has Skype loaded, that must mean that they endorse my use of it.

If they do get approval from ICASA for the new VoIP data rate then, it will be blow to the consumer.
 
My K-Jam documents indicates that the phone "supports" Skype. When one selects Skype from programs for the first time nothing happens, the Skype logo comes up and that is it.. I had to download the software from Skype. Have not had an opportunity to see if it works.

Good day,

The phone comes preloaded with applications e.g. Nokia comes with PTT which is not supported as yet so it's not a case of us endorsing the product.

In terms of VOIP if used as a Voice product its still considered voice then by law we still need to charge voice rates - I think a ultimate idea would be for MTN and the other networks to design a VOIP product offering similar to the MWEB offer........... Just a thought

Who do we have to hold hostage here in SA to get better service? Or wait, just to get the tytn on the market asap!!! :D
