HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

What more does it offer?

Msoft does things like this ... the AKU ( Adaptation Kit update ) fixes bugs just like a normal windows service pack does ..
but like DotVibe said .. if you have to scratch the itch dive in ... if your device works fine dont fix what isnt broken ...

Shows E for Edge, U for UMTS and H for HSDPA. .

This is what i was asking about..like the Jamin shows E and G - i knew it must be possible for the JasJam to show G, E, U and H

but ill wait for official update - not prepared to take chance....
especially considering that im trying to sell my JasJam so i can get a N95!

still no takers...im letting go at R4200 cash

Some questions:

1. Is there a way to snooze a task by more than an hour but less than a day?
2. Is there software out there to record calls?

while on a call put it on speaker phone .. then tap note ... and press the record button. if you cant see your recording tool bar .. tap menu and view recording tool bar ..
I dont really use the tasks too much cos of the early days of windows mobile 2003 tasks where very limited .. since then i use my calendar for everything

You very specifically CANNOT record phone calls with any Windows Mobile device. If you record, it will only pick up your side of the conversation, not the other side. This is due to some legislation in the US. The incoming part of the phonecall is not routed through the OS at all, so no software exists to change this.

There are 2 ways to counter this.

Use the speakerphone the way the Guy allready mentioned.
Use the stereo handsfree set that comes with the phone. Put it in record mode and put one earpiece in your ear, and the other next to the device microphone. This should give you the best quality recording.

Oh. I just thought it would be a neat feature to have especially for when you deal with those pesky call centres.

You've got that right. I think its a pity too, especially seeing as you can do it on SE and nokias.

Anyone know how I tell it to save a contact such as John Smith as John Smith rather than Smith, John.

And this one I am sure is a real RTFM type question:

What is this Beam?

This has been bugging me as well. Have done some cleaning of my Outlook contacts before syncing, but there is no way I'm gonna try and ID all the people I know by their last names.

A workaround that requires Outlook (Conflicts = Keep item on device):

1. Synchronize you Contacts with Outlook
2. Make changes in Outlook
3. Synchronize again

What I found strange is that though it is meant to keep items on device, it still replaced what was on the unit with what was on the exchange server. I assume that the same will happen even with a home PC.

For some reason edge is not working on my device. I haven't been to any 3G coverage areas yet (durbanville & stellenbosch), but edge should be working in both those places. Any ideas?

By the way, the salesman who gave me the TyTn said I didn't need a U-SIM. He just activated streaming on my 2G sim. Was this wise?

Did you manage to fix this. I have tried to make video calls all over JHB and PTA - even went to MTN SP shop (which confirmed 3G coverage). Phone keeps telling me that no 3G network available to make calls.
SIM card is 3g and everything is OK on the network side according to MTN.

I did RTFM and are on the brink of Returning TF Phone

I'm not sure whether this is true for exchange, but for a home pc you can set the dominant device.
In: activesync>tools>options>settings>
you can set whether the device info is replaced or the desktop info is replaced.

I honestly haven't tried making a videocall, I don't know anyone with a videocall phone. Have you downloaded and installed the .cab file on leaf's website to set up your data connection?

http://www.leaf.co.za/Controls/MailProvisioning/file/Net/MTN/TyTN/TyTN-MTN-v1.2.cab

you need to copy this to the phone and run it, you might have to register to download the file.
Let me know if you come right, otherwise we can make a different plan, maybe update you radio stack etc.

MTNDD it gives a message you are not in a 3G coverage area or something like that even though you are. It took about 2 days before MTN finally got it sorted on mine.

Have replied to you

HSCSD - to set that up you need to dial *123*15# in a 3G covered area, right?
