HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

Thanks, I'll give it a go.

I notice there was talk at some point on the best setup regarding Auto/GSM and then a combination of GSM and UMTS settings. Have these been resolved? What is the recommended setting?

GSM
GSM(900+1800) UMTS (2100)

I see the files are listed as WM6 ROM files. Are they safe for use on WM5?

Also, when flashing radio only, will you lose any data or apps like when doing full ROM upgrade?

hey guys sorry for my ignorance, but what is the difference between :

1.35.00.11RadioOnly(GPS-Enabled)Trinity2Hermes-SSPL-comp

and

RUU_1.35.00.11_radio_only.exe ?

@astrauss
do not run WM6 programs on WM5, some work, some don't
Updating the Radio stack will have no effect on your installed files & OS

@coza
no difference, same thing

Please excuse all the questions, but I don't want to mess up my one day old JASJAM. Your response seem to imply that there are different radio stacks (ROMS) for WM5 and WM6. Can you please confirm?

Yes there are "EXPERIMENTAL" Windows Mobile 6 ROMS. Some of us have installed these without any problems - however your Jasjam comes out with Windows Mobile 5!

You get a ROM (Which is the firmware)
then you get the RADIO (completely different)

The ROM wipes EVERYTHING on your phone... the "Radio-ONLY" files only updates the Radio....

I recommend updating your Radio 1st! if you have version 1.18 DEFINITELY update yours to 1.34 or 1.35 (no real difference between the two)

from the website below

Downloaded RUU_Radio_Only_1.34.00.10.exe. Unticked Allow USB connection in ActiveSync. Put the TyTN in bootloader mode. Slot in the USB cable into the TyTN and then ran the exe.

However where it is meant to inform about the installed Image version, there is a blank there. If I continue onto the next page, it informs me it will upgrade to 1.23.707.6. Something seems wrong to me there.

ROM: 2.05.255.1
Radio: 1.27.00.00
Protocol: 32.60.7020.06H
ExtROM: 2.05.255.101

Well... i installed that file - but i never unticked "Allow USB connection"
I started the program, made sure i had an activesync connection, made sure i had more than 50% battery life... and pretty much followed the instructions....

I HAD WM6 v0.2, and radio 1.18, after the update it was WM6 v0.2 and radio 1.34

*shrug*

Hehehe. I was so used to the old ways. It seems that putting it in bootloader mode causes the issue.

Now it rightly tells me that my image version is: 2.05.255.1. However when I click update it shows that it will update 2.05.255.1 to 1.35.00.11. So I have not yet continued. The file I downloaded is 1[1].35.00.11RadioOnly(GPS-Enabled)Trinity2Hermes-SSPL-comp.zip

Hey Jongi,

Don't worry about the numbers. The discrepency is due to the fact that the update tool is used for ROM's not Radios. It works anyway.

Well... version 1.35 didn't work on my TyTN - i need to change a few things around for that to work.

as with 1.34, it also looked like a downgrade...
But 1.35 failed my update at 0% ... i tried 3 times - then tried 1.34 which worked 100%

Seriously tho - i'm WAY more comfortable with the update thing after having had a COMPLETE failure where my USB cable lost connectivity under MAC OS X, running a virtual windows machine to update my TyTN.... (not recommended at all btw) It froze up at like 54% and subsequently failed! I thought i bricked the poor thing.... and started thinking warranty, insurance etc etc... When i went into recovery mode - it just kept freezing up at the HTC logo... could do nothing... Until i downloaded the latest ROM from the Leaf website... worked like a charm... so i restarted the WM6 Rom update (IN WINDOWS THIS TIME) and it worked beautifully.

Bottom line - the ROM updates are the "dangerous" ones i think - the radio ones don't seem to be THAT terribly scary. And if it DOES fail - there's a pretty good chance you'll get it all back (eventually)

dot - I suspected as much but was waiting for confirmation.

Ha. I got the Erro[262] : Update Error. When I restart the machine it comes up in bootloader mode. Does this mean that a hard reset is on the cards for me?

hmmm

bad news. Maybe hard reset. See if a soft reset or warm boot helps first.

The situation looks grim. Even a hard reset just comes back to the bootloader. What's a warm boot?

From the Manual
-------------------------
ERROR [262] : UPDATE ERROR

This error occurs during the CE ROM code upgrade process.

Solution: If this happens, you can just soft-reset the device and run RUU again. The update process will then continue.

Note: At this stage, the Wince is destroyed; instead, it is in upgrade mode.
--------------

I had the exact same error... i soft reset my phone and it booted up normally
...then i tried 1.34 instead

holding in powerbutton till it turns off. But that won't do anything if a hard reset doesnt work.

Bad news man. Looks like you'll have to reflash with the original ROM from the leaf website, like atmosphere did.

question, you using vista? Error262 sounds like the vista bug

nope on XP. Where can i find the instructions for a reflash?
