HTC TyTN

32k SIM cards work well in GSM enabled PDA's
to disconnect from the internet press and hold the red end call button ..

ta. Is there not a auto way of doing it?

with the first versions Of WM 5.0 the device would disconnect by default after hitting send receive .. this annoyed many users who complained about having to reconnect .. so it was changed ...
Quick and easy .. just press and hold the end call button on the device for about 3 - 4 seconds ...

That's lacking a bit of foresight, they should have given the user the ability to enable/disable auto-disconnect.

just press the button dude ..
the device has been geared up to support push mail which ties in with an exchange server ... when you use this feature your data channel has to be active ... Anyways working in the service industry you quickly realize you cant please everyone .. no matter how hard you try
Think about how annoyed you would get if while you surfing the net you decide to quickly check your mail and cos you have an "auto disconnect" option enabled it kills your connection ... so you now have to reconnect to the internet to continue surfing ...

@JK8 .. closing the app doesnt close your connection ...

I brought a program called "Pocket Plus", it allowed you to auto disconnect from the internet when you close Internet Explorer, but normally when you tap the x it minimizes it instead of closing. The program also allows you to change that

Got my TyTn at lunch-time. Unpacked and fully charged now. Can't wait to start playing with it!

I really like the feel and the build quality. Will give more feedback as soon as I have spent some time with the manual.

Thanks to Charlene in retensions dept. for her excellent service! Restored my faith in MTN. :D

@ The Guy

Feels pretty solid to me and not too heavy in spite of the size.

Have you been able to find screen protectors for it? I would probably like to get a crystal case for it but they are not available yet.

Order a skin for it on Ebay, cases make it bulky and heavy

Hi all
Had mine for around a month now and I am very happy. Only "bug" I can find is when I reset/reboot the unit I get a "can't find program error". Seem to have picked it up from a failed install of an applet on the phone. I think the phone has been instructed to run something that doesn't exist anymore on startup. I downloaded a few registry editors for it but couldn't find the key(s) to fiddle with. Any clues? A factory reset now would really irritate me - just got it all running.

Eventually got a new USIM from MTN SP. Amazing thing is that I now have reception in areas where I previously always dropped a call! I am happy. Also now have 3G signal available which is kinda cool - quite a bit fater than GPRS...

Justmobile has stock of screen protectors, but at a cost of R65.00 each and then R100 for delivery, that just makes it rediculously expensive at R188.

I will have to wait for pdashop to open!

damn ..
try dft consulting in durban ... they should be able to help you ....

@The Guy

Thanks for that. They only do the official i-mate product. Will the screen protector for the JAsJam fit the TyTn screen properly?
