Good Day fellow forumites :)

So I must just start off with the amount of joy that my new Samsung LA46C750 is bringing me. Tis wonderful.

Ok so on to the next item of my setup, I have the screen, LA46C750. I have the sound, Z5500. I have the htpc, Acer Aspire 5920G but now that is where the question lies.

Do i sell the Laptop and build a basic htpc? Could I get enough for the laptop in order to build a htpc that would be able to output hdmi with analog output to my Z5500?

I am in the water with this one as I am not sure which way to go. The reason why I would want to sell the laptop is that I wont be using it as a laptop anymore but rather a desktop so dont need the screen, but other than that the laptop still outputs at 1080p via hdmi.

But anyway what are your thoughts concerning this? Should I sell and start the creation of the HTPC?

Budget would be around the selling price of the laptop plus maybe a grand. (I still have to purchase a proper desktop for games and etc later, so the htpc cant be mammoth of a thing)

If the laptop handles 1080p with no flicker, why spend more on an HTPC?

it doesnt do analog output sound... or maybe it does. Just gotta figure it out. ok sweet. thanks okies

couple of choices
- it has hdmi out the sound should come out of that (as well as video) -if not probaly just needs a driver update
- It must have an audio out jack (normaly the earphone one) just get a cable that has an earphone jack on the one end and serio RCA jacks on the other
invest in a bluetooth mouse so you can controll the laptop from the couch
I am usinjg an old asus EEPC netbook in my bedroom as and it only has an earphone jack and a vga out, and it does a decent job.

If you're using Windows 7 just go to "Change sound card settings" and select your laptop to be the default output as it usually switches to the HDMI automatically.
