Hi all,

I hope to get some advise and or pointers from this group. I have the Huawei B315s-22 modem on contract from Cell C (no land line or coverage by mtn, vodacom etc.) and have been using the LTE function for a while with minimal issue using only the router.
I know whant to return to my pfsense firewall and a single WIFI AP with all the added benefits of running PFSense (caching proxy etc.) and it controlling the modem. However the modem does not seem to support bridged mode nor can I find any proper material to help in setting up pfsense + the router as a modem. Is there anybody that is up for a challenge or that can offer pointers on how to make these two play nice?

Thx.

Correct, no bridge mode on any LTE router I know.

Your setup would be almost fully automatic if Huawei supported IP reservation. It doesn't, so you have to setup a static IP on your PFSense device and typically also fill up addictional settings like Default Gateway IP and DNS.

No, you can't control modem, as B315 can only work as a router. Activate DMZ on the B315 and point it to PFSense. Make sure that PFSense IP is outside Huawei DHCP range.

There is more threads for configuring LTE routers.
