If you still have it, I'd appreciate a re-post.

I have uploaded it to google drive here is the link https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1Kzoy-rygzedlRNUDVNMVlpbzA/edit?usp=sharing

This will update only the HTML admin page were you set the router not the firmware of the modem, but this is the original HUAWEI firmware when you go to 192.168.1.1 you will see the HUAWEI logo, it last years verssion (2013).

It was released as .bin files I had to edit the FmcUpdate.exe file of another firmware version and put the .bin files inside then save the new executable file...it was a bit hard work but enjoy :D;), let me know if you having any problems. and I have to say pages load faster

Thanks for that SKL_H! I waited a couple of days to say that just to be sure it was all okay - and it is!
My finding is similar to yours - pages seem to load faster.
Again - thank you!

Is there a way to backup the current (MTN) firmware before updating? I can only find an option to backup the settings of the router.

You cannot backup the MTN firmware, once you update the firmware you won't be able to go back but I promise you won't miss it.

Hey SKL_H,

I found customised firmware for the B683 that includes DDNS(a mission on its own), but is is older than the current firmware I have installed. Can you spare any thoughts on editing the FMC_Update .exe so that I can only update the HTML setup pages of the customised firmware, but leave the current (newer) modem firmware intact? :erm:

Thanks in advance!

No worries, it was actually very easy! ;) I just used Resource Tuner to edit the .exe, removed the modem firmware and just left the HTML modules. So the modem now has the later firmware and software that is slightly older (from the VIVA update pack), but it has USSD and DDNS available. Works like a charm :D

Hi Toadie,

Please could you share the firmware with us that incorporates the DDNS for the B683.
