Huawei CFO arrested for violating Iran sanctions

Okay I'm not following. Wanzhou is a Chinese citizen. She was arrested in Canada for breaking a US law. Was she in the US when she broke the law? I'm not being sarcastic here, what am I missing can someone please tell me?

Just an example, it's illegal to drink or drive or other kak until you are 21 in some states of the US. If I (a South African citizen) was 19 and drank some beer in Canada, they would be allowed to arrest me in Canada for breaking a US law? o_O

I know that is not what the arrest was about, but I'm trying to understand the legalities.

I agree, it's weird. Surely it's up to China to arrest her in China. Imagine if China extradites a US citizen fromThailand for violating trade sanctions with Iran.
 
US is being a bully.

The new unjust Iran sanctions were decided/implemented by US (trump) and not China.
The sanctions have nothing to do with China.

US has resorted to these tactics because they can't compete with Huawei on the 5G market.
 
Huawei is a target by MOSAD, as far I can tell you.
 
Huawei is seen as a threat (state entity in all by name) according to the west. Fascinating narrative.

Sadly it hits me too. I wanted to get rid of Google FoolPlay Services from my phone. When looking for explanation it comes to my mind lack of Widevine L1 certification for Huawei phones. It is not I am looking for, but maybe Huawei is working on it? Just a thought...

US likely has an extradition treaty with Canada which should clear up some of the confusion.
 
This was done at the same time was meeting with Trump for 60 day trade war truce agreement. This is insulting 'face'. and most likely intentionally designed to poison relations between China and the US.

If they really had an issue with Iran, they perhaps would have started on Irans primary weapons supplier. I did notice emphasis on the word, "heart" in the one interview, so there might not be intel we are aware of as well.
