Did the usual homework on GSMArena and Huawei website, decided to get the P10Lite - nice dual SIM, moewiese fast device, enough memory, beautiful design. Yeah, I like the hardware, I want the hardware.
Bought the device yesterday from Incredible Connexion, they had stock. Platteland here, we dont have 89 cellphone outlets to choose from.
Last night I started the data transfers, setups and configure... Hmmm... SIM2 not working. SIM1 is Voda for voice, SIM2 is MTN for data.
Take out, clean it, test in another device, SIM is fine. Back into P10Lite - nope, nada. Repeat a few times, till I realise "Someding is Wong"
Long story short - Huawei South Africa (and Global aswell) advertise the device as a Dual SIM, stated on all the specs sheets, even per model specs on GSMArena.
BUT - In my case deice: Huawei P10 lite Model No: WAS-LX1 is BUILT as a single SIM device and this is supplied to Voda and MTN. Telkom and CellC have the true Dual Sim model.
Be ware: The Huawei website and spec sheets do not tell you there are variants of the model. I'm now stuck with a single sim device, thanks to BAD ADVERTISING. Less than a day old and this device is HALF of what I though it to be!
Official responce from Huawei (spoken to 3 different agents and call centres): But Sir, you should look at the IMEI number, is there is only one on the box... yada-yada..... But Sir, if its not a CellC or Telkom branded device, then its only a single SIM.
My Responce: How the heck should the end-user know all this crap, if you are famous for building dual SIM devices and advertise your devices as such??!!
Seemingly not even the stock standard original firmware/ROM can fix this mess.
Now I'm back to paying Vodacom's crazy prices for data, can benefit from cheap MTN data bundles.
Frig'ing nice Boet!? Only in South Africa!
