Hello

How do get this modem to load and run properly the system does not always pick it up?
I have to reboot a few times then it gets recognised and then it works. Tried to unmount the modem cos it recognises it as an usb storage device. How do i get the system to save and remember the setting when it does work?
Thanks

You may need to read up on (and install and configure) usb-modeswitch.

Can you upgrade to a later ubuntu? It was built in and preconfigured (for many modems, not sure about the 1750) from at least 10.10 and later.

Thanks dudes, if anybody has the latest linux on cd I would pick it up on jhb. Only got 25 kba line here on the farm. Got it working sort of.

Dude go and buy a pc/linux format a lot of times there is new distro's on the cover disk. Dont bother with 9.04 if you cant find a magazine close by go to CNA they will have a linux format just check the cover disk :)

Just be aware that vanilla Ubuntu, from v 11.04 onwards, brings the "Unity" interface which may take some getting used to. Mint is a good option, though
