Huawei E220 and Macbook

well i'm not with mtnsp anymore... and i'm quite glad i don't have to phone them anymore... it got SERIOUSLY annoying

Ginngs's tool??

It sounds kinky!

Hahahaha

Speak to him about his E620/E220 tool

MTNDD

Is anybody else having problems with their E220 rebooting itself the whole time? It Flashes while "Searching for the network", then the minute it connects... it goes dead... and it looks like it starts all over again. Keeps doing it over and over etc etc

Oh and i've got some good software for the mac... ito monitoring etc.

1. Cheetawatch http://m.ac.nz/cheetahwatch/
This is a little app that you can put in your Menu bar, which shows you signal strength, Connect/Disconnect & Usage. Very simple - very basic....works v.well.

2. Net Monitor http://homepage.mac.com/rominar/net.html
This has a 30day trial period, and costs $10 if u decide to use it. This monitors in detail your uploads, downloads as well as graphically displays how much data you send up or receive down. I find this very handy for 3G usage... but can work with many other networks. It also can control your PPP device (like the Huawei E220) by auto switching on, and resume connection from standby.

Hope it helps someone with a Macbook... there seems to be VERY little support on Apple and Huawei. And i can't believe that it's not MTN's fault!

Not having any problems using MTN's Fastlink on my Macbook - works with any sim as well.

Hi All

I hope this helps.

Huawei E220 on Macbook with SnowLeopard on MTN

Hi, I am running a MacbookPro with SnowLeopard. I have downloaded the latest Huawei driver for the E220 and it all works OK with one exception....I have noticed continuous data traffic on the E220 generated by mDNSResponder as high as 15kbit/s which never stops. Clearly this is very expensive for me and very profitable for MTN. Does anyone know what causes this traffic and how to kill it?

mDNSResponder is part of the Bonjour service for zero-configuration networking.

I don't think it should be generating traffic on your internet connection.

I obtained new DNS IP addresses from a techie at MTN and it solved the problem. Seems that the DNS that comes with the Huawei driver is incorrect. Thanks for the interest.
