I mentioned in another thread that I just upgrade from XP to Windows 7 RC1 - and my modem won't work. I was given a link to the Vodacom website and told to download new firmware.

While I'll use Vodacom software as a last resort, is there new firware/software from Huawei themselves that I can use and will work?

Thanks,

I use my E220 on Win7 RC1 and it works perfectly. I don't make use of Vodacom's software, but rather flashed with Huawei tool. Not sure of the version, will have to check later when I get home.

Please do!

I have Mobile Connect firmware from about 18 months back that worked perfectly on XP. However nothing happens on RC1 (I get a 'ping' as I insert, but nothing pops up. When I double click on the virtual CD rom drive, it says corrupt')

I'm going to try on my other XP machine today to see if it's the OS or if it's (oddly) corrupt

Thanks!

Was gonna start a thread, but i'll post here

I got an E272 and Win 7 build 7000, 64-Bit.

At first, VMC said "No device found" but after some playing around, I got it to pick up.
Now, it does connect, but only for 30 secs and then disconnects - is this that problem with the IP adress hard coded into the old software?

the Device also has a yellow Exclamation mark in device manager - I need to update the drivers for it.... can anyone post a link?

I wanted to use Mobile connect but the only file I have is an ISO, and I can't mount it since daemon tools is not available for Win7 yet...

please help DJ

Ah!

So what does Vodacom customise? The software, firmware or both? If it's the updated firmware I need - can I carry on with Mobile Connect?

can anyone with an e272 and win7 please point me to what I need?

V3G, help please?

For starters you should install mobile partner...

Although that might be difficult seeing as the modem isn't recognized on Windows 7. Both E220 and E272 work perfectly for me on Windows 7, 1st time no tweaking and no issues. I suspect it's that useless piece of software, VMC... V3G will probably disagree with me and vindicate his answer with a solution to your problem...

the gings tool aint a-workin with Drivers that aren't digitally signed.

Got the firmware and posting from my NEW Windows 7 ;)

Thanks guys!

I'm finally posting from Win 7 !!!

Ok, searched the huawei site for Software/Flash that would work for the e272 on win 7 - nada, that site sucks

Vodacoms site, they have software but apon trying to flash, I see I already have that version...great

Vodafone site - eish, just ads and contracts, no software to be found....till about 10 minutes of looking (eish, really now.....)

So my Device manager doesn't wanna install the Modem, So I have nothing.

MDMA - nothing, it needs a connection, and there ain't gonna be any connection without drivers

A looky here - and old dusty version of Mobile Partner. installed it, no questions asked, and got the drivers updated....voila!

hope that helps some of you guys.... (Thanx sandman, you were the only one who could help!)
