Hello there,

I have a problem with huawei e220 bought at 3 network (Ireland), officialy called datamodem. I wa told, it should work under vista, it's written on the booklet, in which the modem was delivered to me, however...it's still not working. The thing is, vista is unable to install the driver software, I get the message:
Device driver software was not successfully installed.
HUAWEI Mass storage USB device Device unplugged

The representants of 3 network are total losers, it's really hard to understand, how could they allow to say officialy, that huawei e220 is working under vista, because it is just not true...it is a lie...

I tried all the four USB ports on my Acer computer,
once i got a chance to start the instalation wizard (a new hardware found), then to choose:
I don't have a disc show me other options
and then I could install huawei only as a mass storage device and the installation did not continue anymore:eek:

Thi is just f***ing awful, I am very upset about the attitude from Three network representatives...liars, liars, liars!!!

Anyway, I discovered an interesting server: http://www.mobileconnected.co.uk/2007/05/25/usb-modem-huawei-e220-on-vista-take-2/

where is written how to install huawei e220 on vista directly on vista without any installation on windows XP before the whole installation process.
My question here is: Can I use those installation procedures for my huawei e220 from 3 network, because they are obviously used only for huawei e220 from Vodafone...what do you think, lads?
I don't want to start the installation, it might change the network settings, and what about the 3 network sim card, how can I use it on vodafone dashboard and firmware, if possible?

I wait for any replies

Thanks:)

gismo, did your Acer come pre-installed with Vista? or did you updrage from say Windoze heXPee to Vista?

If you upgraded to Vista, check to see if Acer has provided any BIOS updates, and install the latest BIOS update for your Acer.

You can also try the [searchforum]generic Huawei Mobile Connect dashboard software[/searchforum], but you will need to install that onto your E220 using Windoze heXPee and not Vista, I must mention that I also tried this and didn't get it to work directly with my E220, but I did get it to work indirectly in Vista.

Hi IC,

you might be right actually, I really upgraded my XP to Vista home premium, but i solved the problem alreday anyway, because I installed successfully all the huawei drivers on another computer which I got with original Vista...
so I'm starting to enjoy 10GB download allowance for 19.99euro per month...
it is much better then vodafone actually (not only in price and download limit), but in my case it's a question of receiving a better signal (the area I live in offers full 3G signal form 3network, Vodafone si struggling with it).
I'm extremely curious if Vodafone IE arrives with something comparable to 3network, which is really very difficult to beat at the moment:p
Thanks for your reply and have a nice day.
