Hi,

I rebuilt my notebook and now it is not picking up my USB E220 modem. I know back in the day you had to update the firmware on a XP machine before you can use it on Vista.

Dont understand why the software is not picking it up anymore but does anyone have the firmware upgrate kit which you can use on Vista. I dont have a XP anymore.

I have tried the following software and it just does not pick up the device.

VMCLtie 2.2..2 1.
VMCLite 3.1.2.104
VMCLite 3.2.1.156
E220 Update 11.117.09.04..B268.

Not one of the setup finds my device. Can anyone please assist me. There is also zero support on HUAWEI website.

Have you used this modem with Vista before or only XP? If it used to work on Vista it should work now. The reason why you have to update the modem on a XP machine is because Vista wont recognize the modem and therefore the firmware upgrade wont be able to run. Maybe a friend have XP that you could use?

don't know, if you updated the firmware it should stay updated. I have no problems on win7.

Yeah that's also what I thought. If i did already update the Firmware why do I have to do it again. Anyhow I see a lot of posts with solutions but all the links point to sites that no longer exists.

ps. good to know it works with Win7 as Im going to upgrade in the near future. But still need Vista and this modem to work till then.
