Don't take this as 'official Vodacom gospel', but I just downloaded the latest version from Huawei's site, ran the file and it updated my E220.

Can't see why it won't work for you.....

v3g, just wondering if the latest Huawei Mobile Connect update for the E220 includes Vista drivers etc?

Reason being that I'm getting a notebook today that's pre-loaded with Vista - I did update my E220 last night using Windoze heXPee in preparation for the arrival of this Vista notebook, and also to see if the new firmware made any difference to the 384kbits/s down & 64kbits/s up problem I've been experiencing [which it didn't].

Got no idea. Vodacom will say to use the latest VMLite as it supports Vista, but I'm pretty sure the Huawei version will be at least at the same revision of firmware/software.

We checked your profile and that was fine, so they're checking your towers (you seem to connect to mainly two) but I wonder if you don't have terminal problem?

When did the 384/64 symptoms start? and more importantly; WHAT DID YOU CHANGE?? :D

Holy cr@p, only now realised you mentioned getting a Vista system!

I suggest everyone in the Gauteng area unplug their datacards, there's going to be massive thunder and lighting storms!!! IC is running Vista!!

LOL, it's purely accidental - it turns out that the notebook I'm getting either comes with a DVD-ROM drive and heXPee or a DVD± and Vista, I decided I wanted the DVD± without knowing about the whole Vista thing - not that I mind giving Vista a spin, but my medium-term-plan is to wipe Vista and install Linux :D.

I did get 2 calls from Vodacom guys, and I promised to take the E220 to Vodaworld and test speed there and possibly get it tested by Vodacom as well - unless of course I get it going in Vista and the speed is fine. I really haven't changed anything, but I don't exclude the possibility that some Windoze update messed something up, also Windoze heXPee did try to interfere with the new E220 driver installation last night - it took a couple of reboots before the new HMC dashboard was able to detect the E220...

I also want to try the E220 with the new [thread=74067]Linux 3G device manager...[/thread]
