Back to the topic at hand, no where in this post was the cradle mentioned for attachment to the external antenna.

Poynting has these available - http://www.poyntingdirect.co.za/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=E272CRADLE - but I believe they are also available from the Vodashops. Obviously you'll have to get the antennas from Poynting still.

Cape Town has them everywhere. Vodacom4u shops are the cheapest @ R1999. Avoid the 3G shops.

I wonder if they will update it to the E280 like the E172 is now the E180?

The Novatel stick has issues. Don't buy it.

Autopage cell has had no stock for a while, not in the country. These are getting scarce.

I saw lots of stock just today. Most expensive is the Vodacom3g shop. Then the 4u branches at R1999. Cheapest is GAME @ R1799. You dont have to buy any starter packs either.

Just for the record; I don't own any retail stores

I didn't think so, the shops are very plush & expensive.

Not one, including the managers seem to have much of a clue what they are talking about or the devices they sell. Someone got it wrong somewhere.

Are these the 3G shops in Cape Town you're referring to? Which one exactly?

Seems that i have found someone in Durban who can make the cable up for me that connects directly to the modem without making use of the cradle.

I will let you guy's know tomorrow if it works.
