Hi,

I have just purchased one of these routers to try test Vodacom LTE.
I am based in Sea Point cape town, and am successfully finally using LTE! :D

Now I had to drive around a bit to actually find a location it would work.
It seems Sea Point gets a really week signal and basically achieves HSDPA speeds.
I drove up to Fresnaye and tested in a nice clear spot and started achieve 13MB downloads and 7 MB uploads.
My speedtest chowed 20MB :wtf:

I guess now I need to look for better data packages from Vodacom

Where else has anyone tested in SA?
And what has your experience/speeds been like?

CHALLENGE FAILED

So it is with a sorry heart that I admit i cannot get ginggs speed reading.
Several Kilometers in my car and almost a complete data bundle later, I cannot breach the 14Mb mark in Sea Point

Curse you ginggs and your super awesome speeds!
Did you use Cell C for your test as indicated on the image?

Boost your signal

LTE is known for having a weak signal indoors

The clear solution to me for a home or office solution is to put an LTE antenna on top of your house and you will dramatically imrpove your signal.

The speeds of 90Mbs download are maximum speeds if the network has the capacity and there is no one else using the tower, speeds of 13 and 20Mbs as I have seen above are extremely impressive. You can stream FULL HD movies at just over 1Mb/s downloads speed with 1-1 contention. How much BW do more you really need, as an individual?

I believe what we want as consumers is synchronous bandwidth so fast up and down and consistency even during the peak periods. I'll take 2MB of guaranteed synchronous bandwidth over promises of mega speeds every single time.

Hmmm, what are the Wifi speeds like one these devices? The only document I could find specced it at 54Mbps for Wireless G, which would seem a little bit odd considering it supports a max download speed of 100Mbps...
