Damn, I just realised I've been buying HSDPA ad hoc data bundles while I'm obviously still limited to 3G speeds. vodacom3g, is there no way the call centre staff can check this before so happily accepting our orders for HSDPA bundles?

Doesn't seem very fair to sell a ignorant customer (such as myself) something they can't even utilise properly??

If you're buying HSDPA products and it's loaded as such on the system it must configure you for HSDPA.

If not, something's broken. PM me your pedigree as per the sticky and I'll have it checked out.

My connection speed has not gone over 380k/s for I don't know how long, so I thought maybe my profile is set to 3G.

I phoned 155, the guy informed me that it's nothing they can do, Autopage must check it.

I then phoned Autopage tech support, where I was informed I was on 3G profile.I then asked to be changed to HSDPA profile, and was then informed sorry, I am on HSDPA, since I have a HSDPA card. There's no setting they can check.

I assume this is the right route? Any other suggestions? Vodacom3G get's many many many many people bothering him, so anything else I can do?

Sorted?, did speak to Autopage to get them to sort you out.

I have not heard anything from them or anyone else (apart from yourself, V3G), will check the speed out over the weekend.

Auto-non-page had a Page Read Fault

Have followed up again, cc'ed you on the mails.

Thanks Vodacom3G for your help, sometimes you need to bring in the big guns, it seems. ;)

If some of you guys suddenly see a max of 380kbs download speeds on your HSDPA, it could be because you have been downgraded. It turns out I was downgraded to 3G tarrif without my concent, and then when I asked to be put back on HSDPA, Autopage insisted there is no tarrif difference between 3G and HSDPA, the network will know which one I want to use.

V3G helped, and now Autopage hopefully knows a little more than before, and come the 1st of October I should be back on super fast downloads.

:p

That should be interresting to know.

On the one hand out of bundle is being charged at R2/meg, but on the other hand in contract 3G is cheaper that HSDPA.

Mmmmm.

Please send v3g a p.m. with the number you called 155 from, and the dates & times as recorded by your phone's dialled numbers. v3g can listen to the recording of the calls and take appropriate action.

HSDPA not to be

I have an HSDPA contract and have confirmed with 155 that my profile is HSDPA enabled and that the Vodacom Cellular towers in Sun City - where I am currently finding myself - are HSDPA enabled.

Unfortunately, I consistently connect with extremely poor connection rates. My Linksys router tells me that the connection profile is GPRS and the Vodacom Test speed site informs me that my upload speed is 35.8kB/sec.

The only reason I bought this 24-Month contract was for HSDPA access. I can get GPRS from my current cellphone contract without having to fork out an additional amount of money every month.

How does on get this problem rectified?

Run a few of the Vodacom speed tests and then PM me with the info + all the details as per the thread on how to report a problem. I'll have it checked out.

Who is your service provider?

Bought the Huawei E620 HSDPA card from Cellucity - Canal Walk. Service Provider is Vodacom. Use the card in a Linksys router as it is not available in express slot format for my notebook yet.

With "Service provider" I don't mean your cellular company, ie. Vodacom or MTN. Rather, do you use Vodacom SP, Autopage, Nashua Cellular?

Against my better judgement I went for one of the non-Vodacom Service providers, and lived to regret my decision.

If you run into problems, and your account is with vodacom SP, then they can sort out all your problems, but if you use Autopage or one of the others, then Vodacom can't help you, you are at the mercy of the sevice provider.
