Evening all,

Does anyone here have any experience with using the Huawei E960 3G gateway device? We are coming back to ZA for a spell later in the year, and I'm thinking it would be a useful way of provisioning shared broadband for the time we are "home" - this of course assumes the availability of certain things like electricity :)

I've also noticed that the E960 doesn't seem to be very widely available - is it in fact available at all in ZA? The large and mostly-unloved provider here (Etisalat) sells it for AED 999 - that's about 2K in rands.

Tx.

I haven't seen the Huawei E960 mentioned in any advertising here in SA. The pic on the Huawei site does look very cool though:).

got one through MTN, and i'm using it with MTN... it works really great. set it up with wlan to connect desktops and wifi to connect the two laptops... still have lots of fun with it.

It will do 7.2 down but the hardware is limited to 384k upload. The B970 has 1.4 upload.

I bought mine yesterday at the Telkom store. I have bad reception at my house, so I'm using it on the top floor and thn create a wireless network so that I can use my Laptop/iPhone etc downstairs.

Can anyone help me on how to create a password for the wireless network (don't want the neighbours to eat my sacred MB's), also how can I check/update my firmware.
