Huawei mate SE ?

decided to pass on the OP5T as other financial things took precedence
was then left with
Xiaomi Mi A1
Honor 7x

then i found Huawei Mate SE on amazon for comparable price

which would you recommend guys?
 
Huawei Mate SE seems to be a rebranded Honor 7x - SOURCE

Based on their specs, ether should be pretty good as a mid-range phone (unless you are planning on installing a SD Card larger than 128GB).

If you can afford it, it will be best to go with the better spec'd Honor/Huawei. Takealot sells them as well now, if you happen to be in a rush.

Recommendation (in order):
OP5T - You know why
Honor 7X/Huawei Mate SE (whichever is cheaper)
Xiaomi Mi A1
 
id love the OP5T or the OP6 when it comes out ( notch included ) but sometimes finances dont dictate
and i was hoping to split funds on new phone plus new laptop
so whatever i save on the phone will be redirected to laptop

at the moment i have age old HTC one so never really needed larger memory

price on takealot is quite high versus importing even with shipping

i think the only difference between the honor and huawei is the extra ram and increased storage for $50

i think elsewhere theres options of 3GB/32GB; 4GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB

In my opinion Huawei/Honor make WAAAY too many devices that just overlap and it makes no sense.

look at the Honor 7x vs Huawei P smart vs Honor 9 lite vs Huawei Mate 10 lite vs Huawei Y9 vs Huawei Nova 2 .... they are all so close with the most stupidest of differences in specs.

Why not just make 1 mid-ranger that will conquer all...
 
About to press button on this and get it delivered with Scott's shipping for just under R4000
Is this the best phone I can get for this price and spec ?

yeah looks like it. I'd go for it. The 7x here in SA is the 4/64 model and it goes for R4799 from takealot.

Just make sure that the Mate SE has the LTE bands that you require. theres a website that you can use. i forget the name but google is your friend

the mate SE has: 4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 40(2300)

so make sure you are covered

thanks I just checked and it doesn't do 4G in ZA
may have to pass for something else
any recommendations in that price bracket?

unfortunately its not very nice looking compared to some of the other phones launched recently
 
Which one doesnt do 4g in Sa? 7x or mate SE? Isn't our 4g bands 1800, 2100 & 2300?

mate se doesnt support 4g as per frequencycheck.com
it states it does B3 1800+

plus i was hoping to get it via amazon us
i checked the honor 9 lite with same specs and its coming in R5500 via banggood and scotts shipping
i was getting quote for the mate se with case from amazon for just under R4000 for same specs

R5500? Thats steep.. which variant of the 9 lite? I was planning on getting the 7x from india as the price is good but with the research online on trying to get ota updates for it, has made me hesitant. Something about regioning on the device as Honor India said it wont receive otas outside of india. I'm not too sure they correct but I'm not an expert on that. You should check up on that also if its important to you ?

Maybe an expert can weigh in on receiving ota's from different regions?
 
It was the 4gb/ 64 gb variant..
I guess I'm looking for the same spec and it was between the 7x,mia1 or p9 lite from honor
