Huawei p1, just got mine.

thanks for the pics

not sure if I want to do this to myself again
the support for this phone is very limited
there is no dedicated forum on xda either
had the s7 slim tab but that was stuck 2.2/3 i think, and it was such a mission trying get it rooted etc
its not only huawei though, LG has been promising ICS for P970 since last year
but nothing has happened yet

im sure its great if you just want a stock phone and intend on keeping it like that
but I think Id rather get the S2 or device that has greater user base

I got mine yesterday from Edgars at Gateway but I got no freebies like the OP :p

It's a big step up from my old HTC Desire S. The phone is free from bloatware so it's really snappy. Haven't had much time to play around with it but it's S2 performance at half the price :)

Got mine as well from menlyn cna. No freebies thought. But very impressed. Got antutu benchmark of around 8900. That's inpressive. It's smooth and clean. No junk. I rooted it and tried miui custom rom. Brilliant rom but was giving bad signal so restored the stock back on.

Today I'm using it at work, I like the Polaris office app for updating my spreadsheets on the go, I left tablet at home so will see if this battery can keep up.

The salesman at the Edgars store said that I must keep the Voda sim in for 7 days for swap out warranty purposes. After that I can put my MTN sim in.

Does anyone know, if i open an Edgars account...what benefits do i get?can i use the vauchers to buy the phone?
do i get 6 month interest free or something?

All the happy owners:

Please keep us informed of your experience/smile size.

currently have a RAZR and not happy with battery life on ICS - have to un-SMART my phone to get more that 8hours of batt life. Considering this as replacement.

Have any of u guys flashed cm10 onto your devices?

I went to edgars today and used the device abit and was impressed with everything besides the crap keyboard. It really is bad :(

If I can flash cm10 onto it and get the cm10 keyboard then I might very well go and buy on of these tomorrow :D

Thanks so far guys :)

It's not on the official list but dig around; the Android Army is BIG on bootstrapping yourself up by your own socks.

Stock keyboard nonsense is for the peckerheads over in the iToy camp, over here in the 'droid army, we get to futz around, but if you want the quick/easy way out, just head over to Swype. Oh, and as Swype got swallowed by Nuance (them of the NaturallySpeaking Dragon)you get the option of (at least trying out) dictation for your texting needs ..which is really quite an amusing thought.

Ok so far battery has not let me down yet, my workday is from 6am till 6pm. At 7pm it goes on charge till about 11pm. Personally I prefer the TouchPal keyboard. I do notice a small delay of about 2 seconds when I unlock the screen, could be because of the 3D transition or perhaps the fact I'm running battery saver mode which apparently decreases your processor speed from 1.5ghz to 1ghz:rolleyes:

Tomorrow I'll run it on full performance mode and see how the battery handles it.

My P1 takes 1.5-2hrs max to fully charge. That's from flat.

For Keyboards, I'm using Swype. Have no issues with it. Touchpal is faster but it needs a better layout make over.

I get about 24 hrs of use on moderate usage although my phone is on WIFI 24/7 and connected to 2G networks.

Tested out the camera and the pics are fantastic. High detail, bright and colorful. The dual LED flash makes taking pics at night a breeze.

I suggest we use this as thread to build up a knowledge base for this device. For the modest outlay it is amazing value for money. I am tying to find complaints, repair issues etc but there are hardly any of those even to be found in the web. Maybe it did not sell all that well, or is known under some other Vodafone branding?

My device charges under 2 hours. With WIFI on and internet usage it gets a bit of a hot spot ( warm to the touch tbf ) just under the camera. When entering some longish text into the note app, I seem to jump back to the homescreen a lot - but I think it may just be my big fingers (not that I am really) on the sensitive screen. I have not got the hand yet of tapping, I tried that trial of swiftkey but still not satisfied. Too many mi****s in my tapping.

You guys paid for Swype, or is there a trial out there? What is the correct keyword in the play store - https://play.google.com/store/search?q=swype&c=apps gives too many mi****s!

mi****s! = as in missed hits, common proper English word esp applies to Graeme Smith's batting

Get Swiftkey. Thank me later.

When I read the mentions of issue with keyboard I also thought that immediately. Quite happy with Swiftkey on my old HTC DHD.
Only a couple of months left before my contract is done - so also looking into getting a phone cash somewhere and sticking to CellC prepaid.

Really wish this phone had dual-sim, but i guess I'll have to get a chinese import for that though.
