Huawei vs Samsung smartphones - Value comparison

Interesting opinion.

To me personally, the hardware at the high end is similar enough in terms of performance and quality to the point where it is largely negligible for the 2-3 year stretches we use these devices for.

More important is the software experience, and here, the Samsung experience is my preference currently. I still prefer a more pure Android experience, but Samsung has gotten way better at retaining the core of each new version - and what they add or change is sometimes quite useful.

Also I have a Galaxy Note and enjoy the stylus, so it's really the only option out there.
 
The main reason I reverted to Samsung was because of Huawei's latest policy of not allowing the unlocking of bootloaders on their devices. I love the freedom of being able to personalize & customize my device according to my lifestyle. Not simply changing wallpapers, ringtones & themes, but on a developer-level. After all, I own the phone & should be able to do whatever I want with it. Not according to Huawei though, telling me I can't do what I want with something I paid for & own. So for the 1st time in years, I've gone back to the Galaxy range & couldn't be happier.
 
This opinion piece has conveniently forgotten about the Samsung A50. It's more than capable when compared to the P30 Lite and unlike the Lite it receives updates from Samsung on a monthly basis. Yes it costs slightly more but it wins in just about every aspect.

What a sham of a comparison. How can you compare two series of phones without comparing their access to the software that is available on each. We expect better from MyBroadband not half bake rubbish like this. You can do better.

So does the Lite... all Huawei's does even my two year old Honor 9 lite.
 
the most important thing for most people is the User Manual. Some like Mobicel do not have one

If you are talking about rooting, custom rooms etc, it voids the warranty on Samsung devices as well and it is not a 'latest' policy, it has always been policy for all manufacturers
 
I have to waste time and deal with cheap Chinese Android devices having bad outdated firmware memory and storage problems. Paying twice the amount for a flagship Samsung Galaxy is worth every penny! Network providers are make a massive fortune selling Huawei as they are buying Huawei for next to nothing but still charging nearly the same monthly price as a flagship Samsung Galaxy. Wake people!

You could even add the cheaper a30 to this and it would trump the p30 lite based on it's Amoled display alone!

Strange even my cheap Redmi Note 2 with a Mediatek got aftermarket updates etc.
 
I am extremely happy with my Huawei P30 Pro, can't see myself moving brands in the near future.
 
Call me boring but the one feature that I especially love about my Huawei apart from the camera is the battery with Super Charging
It just makes smartphone usage more pleasurable on a DAILY basis

My two best features as well ... I think people underestimate the convenience of charging fast.

You really have no idea what you're talking about, do you?

Every Huawei I've had has been updated *faster* than the Galaxy. I'm running Android 10 on my 2018 Huawei as we sit here - and my previous M10P was updated to Android 9 *months* before the Galaxy S9 at the time. My monthly security patches come before the Samsung too.

Do you just make up things and hope that no calls you out?

You're aware that everything the S10 has now, was already out in Huawei 6 months earlier? Night photo? Wide angle lens? Wireless charging? In screen fingerprint sensor? 2018...

I am incredibly satisfied with my Huawei Y7. The phone's design is 'beautiful', it charges super fast, the battery lasts long, software is top of the line, the storage space is just right. It meets all my needs and more
