This. There will be big knock on effects that people have not begun to think about.Nevermind Huawei. Will this not negatively effect all these companies that were doing business with Huawei? That is like getting rid of your biggest client?
Because that is totally relevant of courseWhat is funny is all the guys here speaking about licenses yet they download tons of movies! All licensed of course, nudge, nudge, wink, wink!
China isn't really communist any more.Capitalism and Communism are both not perfect, but one is abit better.
Huawei's Plan B - Prepared for anything
Huawei was recently placed on the US Entity List, which resulted in Google being ordered to revoke the company's Android licence.
Shortly afterwards, the United States issued a temporary licence to Huawei which granted the company a 90-day reprieve to adjust to the terms of the new restrictions.[/QUOT
Won't help if you don't have chips to run on.I always change the original device os to a custom rom. Have done so from the early days of the android phones. Then I can decide what exactly to install as add ons from other sources.
So something smells about this whole thing. Hauwei has a 3m supply of all the needed chips stockpiled, they built that up recently. Trump declares a 90 day extension. The companies that just lost their biggest client, especially google and the chip manufacturers have all not exactly been protesting as much as they should have considering what it will do to their profit and share price, almost as if they knew about it ahead of time and know its not permanent. I would expect them to be doing stuff like Nike is doing now getting people to sign petitions and crap but they are going along with this with almost no fuss.
Overall I am now wondering if this is a big show. Its the latest TV episode of "Trump is president" where he gets to look strong and heroic to gain support for the next election cycle. China is either in the know (implied by the chip stockpile) or at least partially so, otherwise they are the dupe being used for Trump's game. Anyways, now I am thinking the ban on Hauwei will be lifted but the brand will be seen as more risky going forwards and hence people will swing back a little to Samsung, Apple, and the rest.
Then again, ZTE makes me think maybe it is just is what it is. I don't know anymore but what is out there does not add up for me.
China controls what their own citizens can import. They don't prevent exports like the U.S. is now trying to do. Entirely different.
Sued where? In China?
UK-based chip designer ARM has told staff it must suspend business with Huawei, according to internal documents obtained by the BBC. ARM instructed employees to halt "all active contracts, support entitlements, and any pending engagementsâ with Huawei and its subsidiaries to comply with a recent US trade clampdown. From a report: ARM's designs form the basis of most mobile device processors worldwide. In a company memo, it said its designs contained "US origin technology." As a consequence, it believes it is affected by the Trump administration's ban. One analyst described the move, if it became long-term, as an "insurmountable" blow to Huawei's business. He said it would greatly affect the firm's ability to develop its own chips, many of which are currently built with ARM's underlying technology, for which it pays a licence.
This seems strange.ARM dropped them
It's proprietary google apps. Huawei can copy the Android OS and they likely will but consumers aren't going to pirate all google apps so they'll have to come up with alternatives for them. What is funny is all the guys here speaking about licenses yet they download tons of movies! Trump is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Not many people are going to be pleased with this and it wouldn't surprise me he's going to sit with a big fat multi trillion dollar class action lawsuit.Nevermind Huawei. Will this not negatively effect all these companies that were doing business with Huawei? That is like getting rid of your biggest client?
Useless as their business is in China. They can be sued in whichever country they would try and sell the phone in.
That will result in their phones being banned as wellPretty sure they already have the blueprint for that.
This seems strange.
ARM is UK based, and a division of Softbank, a Japanese company.
I think this is more hearsay than anything else.
Chip designer ARM has suspended business with Huawei, threatening the Chinese company’s ability to create its own chips. BBC News reports that ARM employees have been instructed to halt “all active contracts, support entitlements, and any pending engagements” with Huawei due to the US trade ban. The US has banned any US companies from doing business with the Chinese telecom giant without permission from the American government, but ARM is based in the UK and owned by the Japanese SoftBank group.
ARM is concerned it is affected by the US ban, with an internal memo reportedly revealing that its chip designs include “US origin technology.” ARM develops some processor designs in Austin, Texas and San Jose, California, which could place it under the US restrictions.
Because Entity List.This seems strange.

I know what you said but you're not answering the question. How will it have any effect? I know they can be sued in any country but any country besides China would be useless as you're not even going to get back what you spend on a drawn out legal case. Please read what I wrote, I said
“If they pirate the design they still wouldn’t be able to sell the phone outside China, they would be sued.”
There is Huawei Europe, and Huawei India, and other Huawei subsidiaries in the world, if they try and sell outside China they can be sued in whatever country they try and sell in if they pirate or use stuff they don’t have permission for.
