Huge SAA flight cancellations

  • The parties further agree to establish a task team. The main objective of the task team will be to identify and consider cost saving initiatives, inter alia, insourcing and contracts. Should the task team be able to realise savings, a percentage of the after-tax savings may be ring-fenced and paid to employees in the bargaining unit. The task team will discuss and agree on a formula for such payment; and
Wat? Another "Task Team"? I thought that cost-saving forms part and parcel of any management postion?

I'm just bah. I know that there are people trying hard to make SA good again. For every good person there are thousands stealing. That's the truth

I hear you so let us do some maths. Say for each person in SA, 1000 are thieves and/or corrupt. So, if one considers 56 million population, do you think there are only 55000 good people and approximately 55 million thieves and/or corrupt people?

Surface... maybe it's not inbuilt in you but it is here. It's simple things. Food dissapears. It's the Eastern Cape.
I deal with it daily. I live it. And try and understand it

Sounds about right...

Based on the odds you provided, there's a chance all your relatives are thieves :)

The unions were calling this a victory but in fact they blinked. They caved. SAA got their desired outcome. And more, in fact, as the conditions on the increase will not be met...

heard on the radio yesterday, something about when the airline starts to turn a profit. and the unions accepted it? forking lawl?

do they understand what is happening on planet earth

There's potential for the airline to turn a profit now that The Cabal has been ousted. Profitable routes were cancelled partly because the Guptas had grand plans in the airline industry.

i think thats wishful thinking with the unions running the show. even while the profitable routes where in operation things were still going downhill, its not only the guptas fault. someone like them as a result was inevitable, they just happened to be called guptas in this instance.

the government / anc can definitely not blame it all on the guptas, their occurrence was the natural thing to happen, like a gangrene from an infected wound.

I think people need to realize that the thieves aren’t who they often think they are. This is why lately there is a plethora of cases where people “in the closed community” get fleeced.

You can see that perceptions are changing but I guess it’s a human thing to export exceptions to external parties as a way to rationalize the world and give a false sense of safety/security in an otherwise cut throat environment.

It’s as I say/point out.. gov was/is corrupt (globally too.. levels differ tho) but what’s annoying is that people always forget it takes two or more to do the corrupt/fraud tango. And businesses (white, black, purple and orange ) in SA have been found complicit numerous times.

Next ANC election the criminals take control again and the cycle repeats.

Best to shut it down in this cycle.

Hmmm...or the ANC itself is still pretty. Closing down the direct Cape Town to London route is one of the stupidest decisions in the history of aviation.

Not so sure about that.

Triumphant Numsa, Sacca: How we got to 8% from SAA

SAA has now agreed to pay a 5.9% wage increase on total cost of employment. It is now up to a task team, facilitated by the dispute resolution body the CCMA, to find the cost savings needed for the airline to make up the remaining 2.1% of the effective 8% wage increase.

The task team must identify contracts which are "onerous to the finances of SAA" and ensure that such contracts are either re-negotiated, cancelled or in-sourced, whichever is the most affordable for the airline.

...

The unions, furthermore, negotiated a tax benefit for employees earning less than R600 000 a year (about R50 000 per month) in the form of an educational bursary fund.
