Huge SAA flight cancellations

I think SAA will follow path of SAPO.
Basically due to uncertainty people will use alternatives more and more until there will be no bookings for SAA.

Also due to expanding Chinese marked there is demand for pilots, so if they can not fly they will find alternative airline.

Next the unions will strike against government for closing saa with sympathy strikes from other soe and mines.

Oups. Posted "Ding dong the witch's dead (SAA)" on one of our neighbourhood chat groups.

One of the ladies replied privately "My husband flies for SAA"...

Well the husband should not have issues with re-employment as there is a global shortage of pilots.

Well done to all the useless employees and the unions at SAA for pushing the walking dead company into the grave.

So even if they close SAA tomorrow us taxpayers will still have to pay at least R21bn while the rest of their debt will have to be written off.
Let's not get caught up in the sunk cost fallacy.

It is pointless to keep spending billions each year for losses, to try to recoup R21bn in debt. Suck it up and just take the hit one year. It's only 2% of the national budget, once.

Including an over inflated tender awarded to a someone who didn't know what a shedder was...
You joke?

Sounds about right. One such tender at another govt dept when un-responded to because not even the usual crowd understood what the tender, that took moths to come out, was asking for. Let just consider it similar to describing a safety pin as spring steel retainer. And it's urgent!!!!! Procurement compliance? :X3::ROFL:

Actually also quite topical in other issues reported on these very forums.
