I wouldn't be surprised if a military Junta takes over (despite them saying they will respect the VP )

The comment was part of a series made by Chavez at a summit that prompted Spain's King Juan Carlos to shoot back, "Why don't you shut up?"
Chavez later responded, "If I shut up, you will hear the shouts of the stones of all the peoples of Latin America willing to be free from 500 years of colonialism."
Chavez was a champion for the poor people of Venzuela. His social welfare programs helped countless people out of poverty.
It's easy to criticize but how many of you have sacrificed to help your countryman.

Chavez also used his considerable oil wealth to keep other South American countries afloat during the economic crisis and had some trade agreements with some North African countries as well. Once his party loses the elections, I can see America (even China, possibly) taking a bigger interest in what Venezuela can do for them and not the other way around.
Obama kept a measured tone in a statement released Tuesday evening.
"At this challenging time of President Hugo Chavez’s passing, the United States reaffirms its support for the Venezuelan people and its interest in developing a constructive relationship with the Venezuelan government," Obama said. "As Venezuela begins a new chapter in its history, the United States remains committed to policies that promote democratic principles, the rule of law, and respect for human rights.

Absolutely. A right royal dictatorial prick!
Naturally The ANC will be devastated about this though! I'm sure they've already sent flowers to his family and tenders to Nicolas Maduro...
We came to know a man who expressed a vision to bring profound changes to his country to benefit especially those people who had felt neglected and marginalized," Carter wrote. "Although we have not agreed with all of the methods followed by his government, we have never doubted Hugo Chavez's commitment to improving the lives of millions of his fellow countrymen."
...have you noticed all the dictators are dropping like flies lately?
DJ/cracker another thing, a dictator is someone who runs a country with no democracy.
Chavez was voted into power via a democratic process. Meaning he was a legit leader and not a dictator like you seem to think.
Here is an RT article for you to read so you gain a bit more insight into the anti US leader.
http://rt.com/op-edge/venezuela-chavez-legacy-obama-889/
Hopefully that article opens your eyes a bit more so you can see clearly, you seem to have the US goggles on.
Mugabe was also voted into power via a democratic process![]()
Exactly, he isn't a dictator. They have a democratic process. Nobody thinks chavez wins by pulling mugabe tactics, the entire planet knows how mugabe wins. He still is not a dictator.
killadoob said:Bahrain, saudi arabia, egypt, libya etc were/are dictatorships. Chavez was very loved by most his people, mugabe the people are scared of.
I always find it suspicious when people cry like that over a President or leader.
If only it were mugabe.
