To be fair, that always happens here. Especially when some local celeb dies with the edgy never heard of them comments, etc. This is a toxic **** place.

People go to circuses. They spend billions watching movies every year. They obsess over the latest TV series. Pro wrestling is entertainment all the same.

There is skill involved. They are for all intents and purposes professional athletes, paid to do what they do. They train, for years, to do what they do and continue to train full-time while active wrestlers. Many have backgrounds in other sports and martial arts as well, and a few have moved from wrestling to MMA, notably Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley.

Also, I wouldn't be so sure that UFC and boxing are not ''scripted''...;)

There used to be fierce competition in the US in the 90s/early 2000s. At the time it was the WWF vs WCW. They referred to it as the 'Monday Night Wars' where each company had their live shows on a Monday and would compete for the same TV audience. In the end Vince McMahon, head of the WWF, proved to be the better businessman and WWF triumphed. They bought WCW, evolved into WWE, and they now dominate the US (and global) market.

Saying that, alternatives have reemerged in the US with AEW (All Elite Wrestling) and TNA (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling).

EDIT: Its funny. Wrestling fans have no problem with it being scripted. We are aware of this fact and watch it for what it is, but the people that don't like it or don't ''get it'' make the most noise about it being fake. Cool. Go watch the 9th Fast and Furious movie where they drive CGI cars in space. I'm going to go watch a guy suplex another guy off of a ladder in real life.

Sure but saying you didn't know someone is not the same thing as people borderline celebrating someone's death because of something stupid they said or did years ago or because of who they voted for.
