So my guild have finaly achieved Illidan farm status! And on our second kill last night I got my Black bow of the betrayer! It dropped on the first kill as well but I were lower on dkp than our other BM hunter.

So I am entering a new phase for DPS and a bit more unfamilliar tarain, some advice as to gear and how to boost my dps would be greatly appreciated. Getting up to 2k DPS with my chicken on a stick bow were possible in most pet friendly fights where you can go all out dps (Gorefiend, Winterchill etc.)
The last few weeks I have pushed my haste rating for my dps gear to about 144 giving me a 1:1 rotation with the same dps as with 70 haste and a 3:2 rotation. With the 3.0 speed bow I will be back at a 3:2 rotation, but due to it having a bit less crit and hitrating for now I have taken a 1% crit drop.

So any advice on gear or stats that I can work on will be appreciated.

And yea it feels damn good to have gotten Illidan down, and to get my bow!

Well done mate!

One day when I'm big I'm going to get my two warglaives! Mark my words! (Even If I AM lvl80 :p )

Our guild has reached farm status in Karazhan where we clear it in about 4hrs 30, depending on silly wipes with 'ol Nightbane. The top guys have done zul aman, just not sure if they've finished it. We're still short on lvl 70s to start doing Gruul's lair even though our top 15 players are already Hyjal ready on imba rating.

I fear there won't be enough time for us to get to the cool raids before WoTLK comes out. Rather unfortunate as I'm sure it must be quite an experience :(

gz on that, we have a similar situation voicy, so anyways whilst doing group quests with my loladin last night in SMV we went to try 5 man trash in bt. It was painful :P

especially seeing as my loladin has just dinged 70 and is geared in blues with one or 2 greens :P

My guild is wiping like madmen on M'uru. And I can say the most important stat for anyone post-BT or with BT on farm is haste.

Stack it
Love it
Greed it
Need it

Do whatever you can to gather it. Ofc dont screw up your stat balance but I found that I could regem alot of slots and replace items for items with thats with minimal effect on other gear.

Does that hold true for Hunters as well though? I can easily get to abou 180 haste but it will gimp my crit from 30% to 25%...

heya guys... sorry been low profile, had a awesome fun weekend, writing off my car on friday night flying off a bridge, into a house roof... and being in hospital for the weekend. Fun Fun fun.

As for your question on haste Werries... Be careful on too much haste.
Once the new patch hits, it will be safe to stack on loads of haste, but as it is now, to achieve 2k + dps you need to bring your 3.0 bow weapon speed down to around 2.04 / 2.06 speed levels for maximum performance.

Stick to the 3:2 macro, unless you are massively hasted with bloodlusts + drums + rapid fire, then default to a 1:1 rotation, and if you are talking haste figures, my optimum dps was achieved around the 115 haste. Currently I am on 97 haste and I am playing around with balancing other stats. Ignore armour is the latest stat I have been pushing everything into... but it seems the dps difference between 1000 ignore armour and 1550 ignore armour is almost a waste of time.
So in a nutshell, try balance all your stats. The one stat which keeps on delivering without showing any degraded performance is attack power. I would say if you are trying to go for 2500 sustained dps on bosses, it requires you to stack up on say pretty much 1k ignore armour, loads of AP, and try not to exceed 125 haste for now.. but keep collecting the haste items. Once the new patch hits, and our steady's are modified to 2.0 shot speeds and autos are removed from special shot timers, then I would say stack up all haste till you get to around 1.5 Attack speed.

Even crit seems to only reach its maximum effectiveness around 34 % unbuffed. The difference in dps between 45 % and 38 % raid buffed is almost non existent.

I do remember seeing a massive dps drop when I ran into the 150+ haste figures... my autoshot window was just too small and I lost more shots than what I gained. The other thing you have to start doing is use the correct pots for the correct bosses. Elixir of demonslaying will > any other pot when it comes to fighting demonoid bosses. Good examples here is, Brutallis, Mother sharaz and Eredar twins.

As soon as we have a stable solid phase 5 on KJ, then I will be using elixir of demonslaying pots on him as well.

Thanks for the advice m8! always helpfull.
Sorry to hear about the accedent, hope you are in a better shape now?

I believe I may be lacking a lot still on the ignore armour stat, with current gear setup I have about 300-400 ignore armour.
I will consider dropping my haste back to 124, but for now I don't see much shot clipping with my bow speed at 2.00. Have to rememeber that I am used to weaving shots with 1.92 speed on my bow. I have only started clipping shots when I dropped that to 1.86, but then I defaulted it to a 1:1 rotation with very similar dps as at 1.92 speeds.
But my dps increases sofar were in the 1400-1500-1800-2000 range, and I have no experience with dps higher than that.

Oh and ofc, my max dps is usualy achieved without the "right" group setup. At most I get 3% dps increase from another BM hunter and plenty of mana from a SP. No totems or crit auras :(

Hi,

What Pornolio wrote is good advice.

I'm not the kind to sit and do the math, but rather work on feel and a peek or two at wow web stats reports. And based on my experience to date his post is solid and is good advice.

Im in a guild working on Brut ATM with a 2 tank set-up (Feral and Warr) which we going to change after last nights wipe sessions to a 3 tank rotation.

Thinking is we will reduce meteor slash damage allowing us to drop a healer (6 in ttl then) and keep the DPS.

Wish me luck.

Little Fish

P.S if you a BM hunter and are moving into SWP the only real replacement of the Chickenator Bow is to try Get Archies Bow as long as you can haste it based on Pornolio`s advice. (Use Illidans bow with T6 2 part bonus for pvp or when the bear/kitty tries playing LOS games with you in arena^^)

Yup sadly 2k + sustained dps means perfect group setups.

If your crit is below 34 % unbuffed, then a Feral is a must have, 2 BM hunters with you in your group will do amazing boosts for you, but a shammy is a definite must have. If you guys have a survival hunter in your guild its very good to have him onboard, he doesnt have to be in the same party setup as you since his debuff is raid wide when applied to a boss. The other key factor you really should have on any boss fight, is having your pally's keep up JoW.

Having JoW up, means NO mana pots for you, and you should be chugging haste pots instead of mana pots. For where you are now in the game, work on ignore armour and get it to around 1k, and your haste around 100. Then all into crit + AP all the way. If you are guys are farming illidan now, I expect you to be in sunwell really soon. And the big gear check boss ol Brutallis will demand tuning to the highest degree of your raid. So it would be very good for you to start stacking up some ignore armour gear without gimping too much of your other stats. If possible, get me some WWS stats of your next farming run so that I can analyze your shot rotations and playing style. Anyway, I am off to get some more painkillers.. chat later !

Our wws reports are stored here. No report yet with my upgraded bow. Will get that soon I hope :D

Anyway, I think I'll start a bit lower and get my sustained full raid dps up a bit first. It is around the 1.4-1.5k mark at the moment, so a 200dps increase should be possible with current gear.
Next would be the focus on boss fights, where I really hope to go up to atleast 1900 dps sustained with little group help. I think that before I get all the gear sorted the patch changes would be out already and we all will have to rethink our hunters anyway.
I just want the satisfaction for now to constantly beat one particular Rogue in our raid group! (Added that he is always in a DPS boosted team with shaman, retri paladin and warriors)

you guys are speaking so much higher grade it makes my brain hurt :(

I just want to start the damn 25 man raiding scene before:

a) half my guild leaves for WAR/AoC
b) WotLK turns 70 into just another level and makes all the instances obsolete

Pornholio, My deepest condolences mate. Writing off a car is not my idea of fun either. I'm real glad you're able to tell the tale. Luckily I was equipped with the seatbelt buff before i rolled mine. I hope you get back to 100% soon!

btw, what's the owner of the house's opinion of his new carport? (too soon? sorry :p )

for mages i know you should focus on haste after 1400 spell damage, haste gives 1.2 dps then and spell damage only 0.8 there is a point for hunters as well cant think of it ontop of my head though.

Ty for all the kind words... and yes hopefully soon in a few weeks i might have some new skin on my body and all the stitches removed.

@ Werries - You will have a tough time beating this rogue since he is benefiting from 4 x tier 6 bonus and you will need to change a few things if you wanna whipp his ass on the dps meters. Look at things like eliminating arcane + multishots completely from your shot cycle, bribe one of your pally's to keep up JoW and pop haste pots when you proc your rapid fire + trinkets. This should knock you in top position guaranteed. But if you get the 4 x tier 6 bonus, you will leap ahead with massive steps on the dps meters. Oh yea... get rid of that junky trinket from ashtongue... the blue one from BM will give you better dps output / benefit.

@ Voicy - thank you for the kind words :) Yea it was horrible when the car lost control and went right over the pavement over the bridge... shame, the people's house I hit were in the kitchen playing cards when the super honda came flying through the roof. Entire wall is cracked and it looks like its ready to fall over. Safetybelt was on and I think its the one reason I am alive today. All 4 airbags also popped out. I am just glad no-one got hurt.

Heya Kleine Fische :)

Sure thing... lets take a look @ your setup + shot rotations.
I can see no reason for you not to do at least 2300 dps sustained on brutallis with your current gear setup. Your shot gap between your auto's + steady's are telling me the manito's macro might be gimping you a bit on your dps due to your fps / latency. Remember that macro is specifically for ppl with very good latency and very good fps. Sadly most of us in SA dont have that luxury. I would recommend you do the following.

1 - For starters... I dont see you using elixir of demonslaying. This is an absolute must here. NON negotiable. You will need 2 x per kill, since the elixir only lasts for 5 min's and the brutallus encounter is around 6 mins, but if its your first kill, expect to go at least 10 sec's into the enrage timer.
2 - Your pally's need to keep up JoW. This will allow you to pop haste pots instead of mana pots. Its really that important. Beg, plead, bribe, whatever it takes. JoW will turn you into a bad ass DPS MOFO. I see on your build you dont have improved mana efficiency. You will need the pally's JoW here. As I mentioned... offer to mow his lawn if thats what it will take for him to keep it up on the boss.
3 - Group setups are insanely important here. Your hunters should get no1 priority on decent group setups. With your stats, if you had to choose between a feral or shammy... go with shammy. Your crit is already over the mark where you should see little gain fully raid buffed if you had to get a feral as well... if you can get a feral + shammy hell then party away and get ready to destroy anything on the meters.
4 - When drumming, rapid fire etc... DONT split the dps buffing abilities apart. Use them all at once. Show no mercy for that tank tanking ol brutallis. You guys should not be on brutallus if he cannot hold solid aggro by now :) He needs to sweat while you nuke it out hehehe... nuke but FD as well. So, if you have multiple leatherworkers in your party with drums even better. Use something like drummerboy to sync your drumming between each other.
5 - You should be stacking some more haste... for maximum 3:2 dps try get your shot speed to around 2.05 and spam only the 3:2 macro... NOTHING else on this boss. I would recommend getting the crafted ring with haste from SW sunmotes... that will solve everything on your shot speeds.
6 - I achieve max DPS ( around 2700 dps sustained ) with around 1100 ignore armour... if you can stack ignore armour, its very important on this boss. Hopefully you guys also go with a rogue that has improved expose armor weakness instead of 5 x sunder armors.
7 - Hit rating is ok, I would stack another 5+ / 10+ hit rating, but thats just me. Your HR is not that bad. Also your DST is king... Keep it. Amazing trinket for any BM hunter.
8 - You want / need a bloodlust... DEFINATELY !!!
9 - start early with your BW's + rapid fires... you need to get at least 3 of them in per attempt!!!!

Anyway, I would like to have a look at your version of the manito macro just to ensure you are using updated syntaxes, but I would almost recommend you to just default to a flat normal 3:2.

Brutallis is a boss that will demand tuning to the max... and looking at your gear, you should have no problem doing sustained 2300 dps through the entire 6 min's. Anyway, keep me updated on your progress !
For your current gear setup... if I had to choose... I would go with your current setup and ofc the little additional haste to get your shot speed sorted, or if you can, and this might be better... dual ZA daggers instead of shivering felspine, and badge bow. Remember, Badge bow is insanely good if you are not hasted... BUT properly hasted (which you arent currently) a 3.0 bow > badge bow.

cheers !

:p

Hey Pornolio,

Many thanks for that... certainly more then I was expecting. Which is always a pleasant surprise. :)

Ill copy paste the macro once I am at home and can login.

Well since that attempt we did try again, and Elixer Demon slaying was being potted and we use Drummer boy to sync better. (Nice little addon that)

I did moan to our Pala class leader about JoW, we dont have a Retridan in our guild. (All the ones we tested sucked at about 730DPS) So they going to make a plan amongs the healers and get one to put it up from time to time.

Im always in a grp with an Enhancement Shammy and 3 Rouges, so WF FTW ^^ I hate it. (Im the only hunter left in the guild) The rest couldn't keep up with Locks and mages so got fired. So Im kinda the best of the worst I guess o_O

Your point 4... he hee ok. Ill do that

I think with Fiends Cloak, Felspine and BBS bow, my Attk speed is 2.03

Here is a more recent Brut attempt. http://wowwebstats.com/psqmnqdellvrq

We tried a 3 tank strategy with 6 healers, because the 2 Tank 7 Healer strat gave us the opinion that the Stomp and Meteor Debuffs were just too much to cope with. So we added a tank to help soak up some damage, but allow for a faster tank taunting rotation to reduce the debuff stacking.

We havent even got to an enrage yet to start flaming the DPS... I`m hoping I sort my problem out before then ;p

BTW, my latency is about 350-400 max.

Many thanks for taking the time to read my post and my WWS reports and comment. Its greatly appreciated.
