HUNTER VS ROGUE MELEE HELP

imo only fair fight in wow would be for both combatans to have the same pc's 0ms lag fighting butt naked whit no skill points spent and the lowest grade weopns known equped

Well then i guess ill re-roll and only play as rogue because they seem to have all the advantages in bg.
What a complete waste of time.
I wish someone would tell blizzard to actually put in their descriptions of characters what it really involves, not what your ideas of the character would be.
I mean come on..here i roll a hunter thinking im going to be Legolas the awesome..and all i actually am is a pet feeder/ammo watcher/no good in melee piece of crap hunter grrrrr..........level 64 all for nothing!!

Ahh but dont get dishearted so quickly !

There are other things hunters do insane @ level 80 !

Hunter DPS is very very good. With the correct talent builds + shot rotations you can destroy pretty much any class on dps / damage.

Blizzard knows the hunters suffer in PVP so they are working on it... the first change coming in next patch will help a great deal already.

As long as you dont touch beastmastery. That has became nothing more than a leveling spec

Agreed... BM is dead. If you play a BM you deserve to be the laughing stock of the DPS meters.

Ok so I have just read through this whole thread and would like to ask these hunters one thing:

You stand there and PewPew from a distance kitting people to shyt one kill after the other (Insert class here) But you QQ when you get raped by a Rogue from time to time

Not at all Pitbull - The main complaint is... once a rogue is on top of you, its most of the time bye bye.

Pretty much all classes have oh ***** buttons to help them get out of and survive. Not a hunter.

Whats our options ?

Disengage, which is small.... the rogue sprints back to you in half a breath.
Deterrance - which only blocks attacks from the front. If you run away... the rogue p0mps you from behind. Meaning deterrence = useless.

Mages, shamans, locks, druids, pala's all have means to survive / get away.
All those classes can attack on dead 0 range. Hunter melee is INSANELY crap, like it should be. Hunters still have a dead zone range as well btw :)

Really its not a unjustified whining exercise, its been more than acknowledged from multiple Blizzard resources that they are working on hunter survivability. Its a known problem.

Good hunters are a royal pain in the arse ... luckily there are very few of them around :)

HfB Rogues and frost mages are the bane of my existence in arenas. Resto druids come a close second as I need to keep such a close eye on what they are doing else it is ".... I cyclonez you ftw!!!" :D

Seriously though - roll one of the following if you want an easy time in pvp (in order):
1. Rogue
2. Frost Mage
3. Resto Druid
4. Paladin (currently retri and prot/holy work well but 3.2 might change that)
5. Death knight (easy enough but no longer the op class it used to be and more nerfs coming)

I used to RAPE rogues as a BM hunter, though this was WAY back in the day. Beast Within kiting was awesome. I think something to keep in mind is, don't necessarily drop a trap ahead of the fight(i see alliance hunters do this and then watch in mirth as the horde rogue casually disarms it and starts to pwn... shame) and then sit with a cooldown, wait for rogue to open up on you and if you can get out of the initial stunlock, drop the trap only then, hopefully he wont have the time to disarm or evade it. And dont bother with snakes, fan of knives = lolpwnd. Drop that frost trap.
Otherwise just keep popping those flares, remember to macro your pet stun (you ARE using a cunning pet in pvp, arent you?), use disengage liberally, hunters mark, and pray.

Yup... before the Great BM nerf (the day all hunters cried inside)... Rogues were very scared of BM hunters.

We could pretty much nail them with Beastial Wrath.

Yea I am sure they would...

Anyway, as you can see from that survey, hunters are also among the worst off... And rogues having the least votes against them.

The discussion with regards to hunter survivability in this specific thread is more pointed towards rogues vs hunters.

At least with a shaman if you make it somehow away from the clutches of a rogue, you can heal and run... Now tell me, can a hunter do the same ?

Its bandage or die.... and to bandage means standing still... just what Mr Rogue wants. And if the dot damage ticks while you are bandaging, oh well you know. Wasted bandage cooldown.

Most Shamans are dead in the water against a rogue. Resto can heal for a bit but one on one, they typically don't stand a chance. Watch 3.2 though, Warlocks are going to become the next "strong" class. Their dots are effectively getting a boost and their pets are going to be stronger.

Yea I heard there are some nasty stuff coming in 3.2 ! :)

The one thing hunters do have in their favour is massive burst. Most of the time if you can see a warrior or melee class headed your way you have a little time to burst him down.

I also tend to think that survey might be pointed more to an arena perspective.

The only times I felt save as a hunter in arena, was when there was a shaman with us... they always gunned the shaman down with massive burst first, then its Mr hunters turn.

If there was no shaman... its always the hunter guaranteed.

Both hunter and rogue have upper hand when in or out of range respectively. Therein lies your balance. Make a hunter's close quarter advantage equal to that of a rogue and you've got an unbalanced equation right there.

+100

If my rogue is caught out of melee range by a hunter I'm pretty fk'd.
So the same counts for a Hunter being caught in Melee range by a rogue.

1=1

Exactly, all this QQ'ing going on. Rogues should pwn Hunters up close, hunters can pwn a rogue from a distance. Even though the cake is a lie, you still can't have your cake and eat it i.e. you cannot expect to dominate melee and at range!

Remember how hunters got the name Huntard? Every Tom Dick and Jase rolled one and just facerolled their way to 70! When the BM nerf came, every Tom, Dick and Jase stopped playing their Tards!

Missing the point completely...

Lets break it down... At a range, rogues can easily get to a hunter.
From the hunter side, once a rogue is on you... you have little to no chance to get away. 99% of the time when a rogue is on you, you get NO shots back. You stand there taking it, stunned, stunlocked, kidney shotted whatever. With NO chance of getting one hit back. I repeat... NO hits back.

At range a rogue can shadowstep right behind the hunter... one button. (wow that was hard hey ?)
Cloak of shadows... dont even get me started.

It all boils down the original problem... oh **** buttons + abilities + survivability.

Any rogue that feels they are perfectly balanced for PVP is completely ignorant, biast and.... oh well lemme rather stop.

Come on... if anything its the rogue camp QQ'ing now
