Hyena

I think Hyena is a vile creature .... but I cant help but feel sorry for this poor thing. Shame ... must have been terribly frightened. :-(

They say she cut up her paws from running away from people chasing it etc.

I know - you cannot begin to imagine the terror that a wild animal must go through if it ends up in this sort of situation. Hopefully she will be checked out and released into the wild again.

And also, I don't why they needed a tranquilizer gun for this operation. That woman on the right could have just man-handled the thing into a cage.

shame poor little hyena. didn't do anything to anyone and they all scared the bejeezus out of it.

Wtf is so special about Cape Town? We don't have wildlife predators/scavengers roaming our streets and scaring the good people of our fair city

Should have let him roam free. He could snack on burglars, hijackers and drug dealers.

You have seagulls in Houtbaai that will peck your eyes out and then steal your slap chips and calamari and monkeys in your mountain roads that attacks your car, smashes your windows and then steals your food and or baby.

You have to wonder how he/she ended up so far into the suburbs.

Tourist attractions ;) they love it....they come here to experience that

I agree - it's not as if the bush starts 500 metres away from Blairgowrie!

Poor thing! :(

one of a few things could have happened:

1: Escaped from some one trying to keep it as a pet or smuggling wildlife (most likely)
2: Escaped from JHB zoo (unlikely but not impossible)
3: Was turned in to a Hyena by an angry satanist. (impossible... but will be the official explanation by The Sun)

here in glenwood area the vervet monkey is now roaming the streets as if it's natural habitat now. just about every street corner you turn you see a group of 3 or 4 of them. and they not even scared of you anymore.

At the hotel I worked at in Tokai I regularly had to chase baboons out of the property. I lost count of the number of times I left reception for 2 minutes only to come back and see a massive male baboon sitting on the reception desk. You have to chase them but not chase too hard or they turn and attack. You also have to throw pebbles in their direction because if you throw a rock they pick it up and throw it back at you.

Then there's the day we found 2 scorpions in the office.

And the day we found a puff adder behind the maintenance shed.

Shame poor little thing :(
At least it can be returned to where it actually belongs.
Im going with someone trying to keep it as a pet as the reason it was there in the first place.
