Hyundai i10 tyres

Hey Guise,

I have decided to tap into the wisdom of the Mybroadband forum members regarding new tyres.

I have recently come to the conclusion that my i10 requires two new front tyres as the wheel alignment was out and the inside thread is at it's limit (outside is still fine ), but I didn't realise this, luckily the two tyres which requires replacement are two cheapies (HiFly). So I've phoned around a bit and the following seems to be my options:

165/60/R14 (Original Hyundai i10 spec)
2x Dunlop SP560 @ R1290-00
2x Kuhmo (Hyundai i10 OEM) @ R1460

185/60/R14
2x Achilles (Not sure which, Achilles Platinum?) @ R1370-00
2x Continental (once again not sure which) @ R2090-00

Whichever I decide, the new tyres will be moved to the back wheels (therefore the wider 185/60/R14s shouldn't represent a problem? - they might be of benefit rather as the current 165/60/R14 khumo's seem to want to "swaai gat" every once in a while).

What would be my best option (I will still be going through to Malas tomorrow morning first to see what they can offer me)?

Appreciate you sharing your knowledge / opinions with me as I'm not too clued up on these matters

I like not being in debt, but this is going on the credit card as well - Pirelli's would however put more of a strain on my credit card than these options.

Oh mine is the same size as yours I think and they were under R600 each when I got last time about a year and a bit ago. Menlyn Tyre and Exhaust.

I've been a fan of Dunlop. I only used 7000D on my car and they were very reasonably priced for the grip i got

Just stick with OEM

You really, really shouldn't need to go for a wider-than-OEM tyre. Further, by keeping the same profile as OEM you'll have a car standing around 1cm taller than spec... all of that made up by wobbly, rubber tyre sidewall. If you think the current tyres make your car want to 'swaai gat', you ain't seen nothing yet.

It's an i10, dude. Just replace the tyres with the same size again. Maybe with something a little better than HiFlys...
