Just want to know what your thoughts are on the Hyundai i20, Im currently looking at buying the 160 model. Great value for what you get, and 91KW is quite nippy for a 1600.

Looks like a decent car. Only 2 airbags though seems a bit fail at R155k.

For that money there are a lot of very nice 2nd hand cars out there. Saw an '08 Impreza 2.0 for R159k.

xrapidx - I think it's more of a Yaris competitor.

Imo the i20 is the best in this class. The 1.4 is also very powerful & full house for cheaper. Price/performance warranty quality finish handling ride(very germanish). Wins hands down in this segment. unless you want something that handles like a housefly, that would be the mazda 2

In its class it wins hands down, no other manufacturer can give a car with the same features for the same price.

Test Drove one the week they came out, had the soccer cup colours or something. Anyway. Would take it over the Yaris in a second.

As for Suzuki- just doesn't sound right on 4 wheels.

The 1.6 was very well behaved. Not as high revving/noisy as the Yaris. The doors are nice and thick- good sound insulation etc. With the Warranty i don't think you can go wrong.

If you buy, ENJOY:D

EDIT: Test drive was with the GF, who decided on a 2nd hand Astra. Also very nice, but too much new.

I guess now that VW, Mazda and Ford increased the Polo, Mazda2 and Fiesta prices this car actually looks good for 150k...

Bit of an unfair statement imo to the i20 I think the hyundai actually does look good(apart from price) above anything in the segment polo, yaris, corsa, swift... Except the Fiesta & Mazda2 (was car of the year for good reason)

Nothing wrong with the price. Better than anything else with the same spec in the supermini class. All manufacturers' prices have gone up in the last 6 months. Did my research, drove a few cars... and decided on the 1.4 i20. Took delivery 2 weeks ago and loving it.

we're test driving the i20 as well as the Swift tomorrow. In the end, whoever gives us the most on our trade in wins :D

Just got back... impressed with the Swift and then we drove the i20 1.6. Wow this car is nippy and good specs. I'm going to get the i20 1.4 as I'm getting a very good deal, and we're having 17" alloys fitted as well :D
They just need to confirm the trade-in offer on our Focus then we're set ;)

Excellent choice!

The Swift handling is very good, but on the highway, the 1.4 Hyundai will kick that 1.5 Swift's ass. The Hyundai also feels like a bigger car.

I got a great deal from Hyundai Culemborg... Very happy. Might get some alloys later too. For now, I'm just happy to never have to deal with a Ford dealership again... never ever again...
