Im in the market for a new car

Im really leaning toward a Ford Focus 1.6 hatch, 2007 model.

Anyone own one? and can give me feedback?
How would you compare this car to Mazda 3. Polo. Hyundai Accent?

As much info as possible would be appreciated as Im going to commit myself for 5 years! I dont want to find out in 3 years my car is worth squat and parts are not available etc etc.

Much appreciated

well you cant go wrong in an auris, or a corolla. the mazda 3 is a nice little car, but dont know if you will be happy with it in 4 years from now, have a fried who owned one of those cars, he didnt like it very much.... polo, well you all hear what people say about VW, crappy service, bla bla bla, i've got a grande punto, very nice cars, but if i could choose again, i would go with the corola or the auris..

No problems with my Polo, doing the services myself after the warranty had expired. Just find a good service agent while under warranty, not all of them are bad. You will at least be assured of spares for the next 10 years or longer, not like Samcor products.
Nothing wrong with Toyota though.

If you are looking for resale value and parts availability then the smart choice would be the VW.

Dude, be VERY careful when purchasing a Ford. I drive a focus, and I love it. But you can never get rid of the car, unless you don't mind being ripped off. Ford won't give you a decent trade-in on ANY Ford. I thought it was just the Focus, but I've hear the same thing from several people driving other types of Fords. Sorry to say I will NEVER EVER buy a Ford again in my life. I'm basically stuck with this car till I'm able to pay it off.

thats something I need to take into consideration. I really like the car, so keeping it for the next 5 years, shouldnt be a problem, Im more concerned about maintenance costs and reliability of the vehicle in 5 years time.

Thanks for the advice so far guys, its really vital.

The reason I wont go for a VW again (driving a velociti) is because insurance is really high. (VW is the most expensive car to insure, I phoned around 3 different places) And no VW comes with aircon and extra's without paying extra for it. And the prices of VW's are going up by 2-3 % next month.
