I finally decided to take the plunge and applied for ADSL a month ago. Called Telkom 2 weeks ago. They said they were still testing the line/equipment, blah, blah, blah. Fine, whatever. Called again today. They told me all the tests were done! I just have to wait for a techie to come and install it. Yippee! I might get ADSL within a week. So I went to the customer services branch where I applied, to find out when I can expect the installation. "Sorry Sir, but a port hasn't been installed yet. Call us once a MONTH, to find out when one is available." My left eye started twitching like Chief Inspector Dreifuss' in The Pink Panther...... I guess by "once a month", they meant "once a day". Yeah, that's what I'll do ;-)

you mean after reading this forum you still applied for "broadband" from Telkom ?

posted elsewhere that i have heard from a telkom source that close on 50% of the ports on their marconi dslams are not working...it may be quite a wait

Once a day sounds too little. Make it once an hour. And since 10219 is free, you can do it guilt free!

I just hope she was confused. I mean how can you test something that doesn't exist? ....
