Hi all. As you can see from the tread name, I am very pleased with this accomplishment.

I have been playing this game for too long. ( en soos my ouma gese het: "te veel van n lekker ding is ook nie goed nie")
Firstly, I realised a while ago that this game is very addictive. Purely because it is no longer just a game. With all the stats you can achieve, the realistic effect brought into the game with the VOIP and in-game text chatter. This was just the perfect game to play.

Unfortunately for myself, after logging a odd 200 hours online and who knows how many off-line hours practicing the new skills of flying, knifing, shooting, sniping, C4'ing, commanding, helli'ing, pistol shooting etc etc etc..... I have now done the deed that one should never do...................

I calculated the hours played against the time that I could have spent working. Now I know that this figure would not be accurate, this is why I only used half the hours for working hours and the other half for time I could have spent with my family and other hobbies I loved.

Because I work for myself, I worked out that I lost a possible extra income of +- R 63 000. For some this is not a lot of money, but for a guy who is trying to get a business running, this is like a sh#t load of cash flow down the drain.

Needless to say, this morning I confessed my addiction of BF2 to my wife and now to everyone else. I took a steel nail and damaged my BF2 cd so as to be unreadable. Yes, nothing is stopping me from going to buy another one again. But this, I think, was the first necessary step to get out of wasting time playing this game. I am keeping the game and will be framing it together with all my diplomas. As this was obviously the most expensive cd I have ever bought.

Just thought I should write this here. Maybe there is someone else who just needs to see someone else do it, in order to do the same. And for those of you who can afford to play many hours on-line..... I am very jealous of you.

:o

Theres a guy in my clan that has over 1200 hours

DrLector ! He plays almost every night, and works during the day.

Ive stopped coz the game frustrates the hell out of me ;)

But well done on your acheivement, although id never do that to my cd lol :)

You told someone about THE addiction???!!?!?!? traitor.

You dont have a problem, if your wife complains about your bf2 time, she is the one with the problem. Hehe. The normal solution is to train them for a couple of days, and then get them involved. :)

I am also hopelessly addicted.
My goal was First Sergeant (20000pts), got that then i decided i would play a bit more and get to Master Sergeant (50000pts) and so it continued... now i am @ 1st luitenant... with no end in sight:D

I moved on seeing the game doesnt really change, people do. There are other great(er) games out there!

maybe will try to get my 20k promotion after 1.4 is out. :p

dude there is no greater game that has the support of bf 2

you can connect at 10 on any given day and have 10-30 ppl on

no other game has that

And now there is the problem of a unused cd key lying around.... mmmm

Must I sell it back to EA again. Maby they will give me R63 000 for it.

nah, just keep it as a souvenier for the most expensive time of your life! :D

That's for sure
I thought to stop smoking was going to be bad. This is just as bad. I seem to be looking for the BF2 icon on my desctop every 10 min.

i don't have broadband at home, but recently started kotor2 as the first one did i worked out i wasted 45-50 hours playing it.....i have an addiction also. i'm expecting to play just as many hours on kotor 2....i can't stop myself....its the lightsabers fault. my fiance has given up b!tchin...she actually shuts up and leaves me alone now...cause she knows the quieter she is the sooner i finish

No my friend...... do not be mistaken. Her being so quiet is not for the reason you think.

SHE IS PLOTTING AND PLANNING HER ESCAPE!!!

she is thinking whether she should leave you because all you do is mess around on your damn pc

if you women does not love you much, she will leave :)
