Was wondering if anyone had come across this problem:

OS: Linux Mint 6
Problem: screen resolution is set out of range of the monitor its attached to after I changed the setting in gnome.

Now up until now I used to edit xorg.conf to fix this, but now not much seems to be handled by that file and its now handled by the xserver.

Now I am not sure how to fix this. Is there some new command that you run to get back to the defaults?

Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
This should do the trick. Otherwise replace the parameters with xorg, then try again. If possible, go to the recovery kernel (in the Grub menu) and follow the prompts to the xfix option. This usually works.
