... it looks like there are new deals available from Vodacom from tomorrow. Should I wait till tomorrow rather?

The current deals that took effect from 7th Nov 2010 will be valid still untill the 6th of Feb 2011. We have not received any communication regarding new deals taking effect tomorrow.

Does anyone where one can find a consolidated table of upgrade options on Vodacom for the iphone 4? My upgrade is due on the 20th and I would like to get all my ducks in a row so I can walk my consultant through exactly what I want. ie: 32 gig Iphone 4, 500/1000 megs of data, 120 minutes call time, 100 SMS bundle.

Eish... :( I do believe some things are worth waiting for & that you have just made a mistake. Not a fatal, or even life-threatening one mind you, but a mistake none the less.

My upgrade was yesterday (MTN). I was also going to go out and get the Galaxy S but no one seems to have stock. Why is the HTC Desire so much better in your opinion?
 
I'm not so sure he has. I've got friends with both the Galaxy and HD and the HD guys spend their lives looking for wall sockets to recharge their phones... The Galaxy S guys just charge overnight :)

It's not a huge margin, but for starters it's not a Samsung. :p The biggest factor for me is that it isn't a Playmobil-plastic phone. A close second: the modding community is a lot more loyal to HTC than to Samsung. Android phones only really come into their own once they're rooted and running custom software and HTC just has more of that going on.

The Galaxy S is still a damn nice phone, but I'd never take a Samsung over a comparable HTC.

Oh dear, you've now started something. Busy reading up on the Desire. Looks rather nice. I love the specs of the Galaxy S. However, I do have a few concerns. Firstly, the build quality - I don't like the plastic feel. Secondly, the camera doesn't have a flash and thirdly, too many problems with the GPS. If I can find a phone with similar specs and being able to sort out those three problems, then I will be sold.

Just take note here - we're talking Desire HD, not the old Desire like I've got. At least my old Desire is running Desire HD software...

Yes, after comparing the Desire with the Desire HD I presumed you were talking about the HD.
 
Desire HD - no comparisons out there! Just last night I had people going ooh and aah over the phone!!

Exactly. SGS has its own advantages. Battery life being a big one.
Personally I'd never settle for a phone that can't make it through the day without turning major features off or charging. I want to be able to browse on wi-fi, listen to music, check Facebook and do some IM chatting without having to worry about the battery until I go to sleep.
No dimming the screen, turning off 3G or any of that. So that's why I'd stick with my SGS.

If you work in an office where you can plug the phone in for a bit or have a laptop with you a lot of the time, then the Desire HDs battery life wont really be a problem.

Maybe the Desire Z is better in this regard? With the smaller screen and lower processor clock it should be. Definitely a great choice if you want a physical keyboard.
 
For me, the advantages of the Desire HD over the Galaxy S outweigh the downside of the battery. Love the Galaxy S but Desire HD definitely has tipped the scales for me.

Hope to have my grubby little paws on it by tomorrow if all goes well.
