I can't get onto the internet :(

So I'm using my phone to type this because I can't get online. The trouble started when I uninstalled bitdefender 2008 and installed 2009. Now whenever I try to connect it gives me a error 270? Even when I close down bitdefenders processes in taskmanager it still gives the same problem. The firewall isn't on.
 
Well perhaps it's similar to the zonealarm issue. Even with zonealarm "closed", the PC is locked down. Only way to get it to work is to have zonealarm running and actually open up your PC to the world in minute amounts :p
 
It doesn't even let me enable or disable the firewall. I'll type out the exact error message tomorrow morning.
 
Just try running the internet connection wizard again. I've seen it "wake up" connections before.

Can you ping anything?

Are you using adsl?

Can you access your router?

Tried installing another browser?

Maybe it's just the browser that's blocked.
 
I'm using vodacom 3g. I've tried connecting through the vclite connect program they give and through network connections manually.
 
People some help here. Ok it says. Error 720: a connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection.

What I sugest is press Ctrl Alt Del to taskmanager. Stop all running procecces starting with "bd*.exe" and try again. It doesnt help to just close Bitdefender in the icon tray. Ive seen 2009 version blocking lots of stuff.
 
I've done that, I've even completely uninstalled bitdefender now and it still gives the same error.
 
Why not post this in the vodacom section?

They'll most likely be lots more help.
 
I didn't know where to post it. As its not my modem thats the problem. It's the pc.
