I can't remember the recipe :(

Only bread i know of thats get rolled in balls, dipped in sugar then packed in dish http://food52.com/recipes/8266-monkey-ginger-bread ? This is probably not it but still very good, would like to know the real recipe if you ever find it

Progress has been made! Should have the recipe by tomorrow evening latest!

From what i remember, the dough is rolled into balls and then placed next to each other, in the oven it forms a large loaf, but because you rolled the dough into balls serving the dish is easier as the bread tears along the "joints" where the dough balls have joined (could be explained better, but its late).

Will share the recipe as soon as I have it. Perhaps someone will try it before I can and post a few pics.

It came abit late, eventually had to get ahold of someone in the North West for it.

Sweet Bread:

1 bag of dough (store bought, white bread).
250ml cream (can also be adjusted, if you like alot of sauce add more cream)
10 tsp caramel sugar (can be adjusted to your sweet tooth)

Method:

Empty dough into bowl, sprinkle flour lightly over, cover with cloth and let rise for an hour in a warm spot.
Grease a baking dish (Shake n Bake, Spray and Cook).
Roll dough into golf ball sized balls and place next to each other in baking dish.
Cover dough and let rise for another hour.
Preheat oven to 180C.
Pour cream and sprinkle sugar over dough ( I add a little cream and sugar just before I place the dough balls in the dish to coat the bottom, only use a little sugar to avoid it burning when baking).
Bake for 1 hour (this time may very from oven to oven, essentially you are baking bread so poke your dough here and there if you are unsure if its cooked or not)

The lady who gave the recipe to me said your first batch is a trial and error as everyone's tastes are different and you have to figure out how long it takes your oven to bake the dish. Once you have the figured, its a pretty neat dish, although not to everyone's liking i'm sure. We generally have this whenever we braai.

Weird bread this, cant think how it will look like when its done, going to have try and see!
