From our friends at Telkom Internet. I wonder what I wopuld really have to do to get blacklisted from their service. It almost sounds like a challenge to me. And I wonder if I send a mail to the adress at the bottom will I get a reply that is in intelligible English, not just Telkomspeak.

Of course this mail was sent out on Saturday morning when I have been cut off since Thursday morning.

Dear subscriber

According to our records your total usage as at [2006-9-16 00:00:01] has reached and exceeded the threshold for the overall service.

Username : xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Uploaded : 1.13GB
Downloaded : 4.01GB
Combined Total : 5.14GB
Service threshold : 3.00GB

Reaching the threshold has resulted in your username being disabled from our network of services until the 1st of next month.

Your actions have resulted in your username being added to our list of high-end users and repeated behavior of this nature could result in an overall blacklisting of services from TelkomInternet.

Should this not be the case, you are most welcome to mail
[email protected] with your concerns.

Warm regards

If they didn't want people to use it for their benifit, why change the way they cap you? It makes as much sense as most of Telkoms dumb decisions, only thing that differs is that it actaully benifits the consumer.

Suspend me... go freaking ahead... Imaginet it is.

I bought a 3GB service, they can cap me (which I bought for the relaxed capping), but if they wanna still threaten with suspension they can go to hell because its a capped service.

Telkom options:

1) leave as is - I stay and pay R500 a month in ISP costs.
2) telkom suspend me - I leave for a IS solution, and WebAfrica 1GB for international access... sounds perfect for me.
3) Telkom start capping at 3GB... same thing going to a 5GB or 10GB offering from another ISP.

I was capped. However, I have a funny feeling that they monitor your usage from the month before and if you went big the month before then you will get capped earlier than if you normally stay below the 3GB.

(I did 17GB without getting capped last month)

and then they publicly denied ever sending those emails.. HAHAHAHAHA ... this is some seriously Orwellian bull****.. only planned out by someone with an IQ of a 4 year old!

I say push them till they blacklist you. Then they'll just lose a customer and you go with someone else...What do you have to lose?;)

Just keep "abusing" those accounts. The more clients Telkom loses, the better. There are much better ISP's around, like Web Africa.
