Yes. There is smart load options available, and considering the inverter is in the garage or should not be a problem to connect a new socket for it

All good so far hardly visiting the petrol station anymore.

Manage keep it charged all time, solar is basically at it limits until and get upgrade done on solar next year. As most contractors are done for year or full booked.

If anybody has solar, a car like this is a no brainer.

After a lot of back-and-forth with different dealerships trying to get the best possible deal, I finally got everything to line up.


I settled on the Tiggo 7 CSH Ultra for R620,000 — a demo model with only 800 km on the clock. That’s a solid R60,000 discount from the new price.


My first choice was originally the BYD Sealion 5, which was R570k for the top-spec model. However, they were offering me R30k less on my trade-in. The Sealion 5 is still an excellent car and offers amazing value, but it lacks a few things such as DC charging.


In the end, my total came to R627k, mainly because Chery Century City offered me about R5,800 above settlement for my old car — the best trade-in value I received from any dealership. Their service was also fantastic. They processed my details, and finance approval came through in under 5 minutes. Honestly, it was easier to get finance than to get an insurance quote!


Since it’s a demo, I still get the full 10-year unlimited-km battery warranty, which is a huge bonus.



Pros​


  • Effortless driving – the power is always available when you need it.
  • Radar cruise control makes longer drives relaxed and stress-free.
  • Fast DC charging – I was getting above to the advertised 40 kW without issues.
  • Premium interior with very comfortable seats.
  • Great fuel consumption, even if you don’t charge it every day.
  • Physical climate-control buttons, which are much easier to use than touchscreen controls.
  • 10-year unlimited-kilometre battery warranty, which gives excellent peace of mind.


Cons​


  • You must have the physical key — even though the app exists, you can’t use your phone as a key like you can with BYD.
  • Limited DC charging availability near me, and most nearby chargers are AC only (not the car’s fault).
  • Canal Walk only has two chargers, which is far too few for a mall that size (again, not car related).
  • The infotainment colour theme doesn’t match the exterior – the UI is white even though my car is grey.
  • Audi 150 kW DC chargers are expensive, costing over R8/kWh.


Overall impression​


I’m genuinely impressed by the Tiggo 7 CSH Ultra. The quality is a massive upgrade from my old Tiggo 7 petrol in every way. I haven’t had to visit a petrol station yet — I’m managing almost everything on battery with a bit of home charging.


With my old Tiggo 7, I used to spend around R500 every three days. Now it feels like that era is behind me
