That is similar for on-campus speeds at UCT, especially at the Chemical Engineering building

They have however blocked all p2p and gaming traffic but I've found ways around that ;)

So tempted to drop them an email just for troll lulz. But then I think, some dof admin hasn't covered his tracks so shame on him. Or they just let you do that if you are "smart" enough and feign innocence to the authoratah.

Not bad. I got 300Mbps on the stellenbosch network once. Cost me like frikken R15!

Think its impossible for them to do anything about it

Not very clever going public with this ... you should have kept quiet and enjoyed the free ride.

The university provides us with internet to our rooms so I doubt anything will come of this.

OMG I'm so jealous, I think I'll go and kill myself now...

...not

so you only got it for the next couple years, and then you will be a regular joe. please PM me your details so I don't ever hire you as it seems like you're a snotty little brat.

let's compare cars, and then see how you feel about that.

I work at the University of Pretoria and those speeds are similar to what I get in my office and I am sure most other tertiary institutions on the TENET network get. The new "uncapped" internet model at UP started in March this year and the intention was to give post-grads and academic staff unlimited access to bandwidth for academic purposes. Your individual usage is still being monitored and any bypassing of restrictions on p2p protocols or downloading of non-academic stuff such as series or movies via http is not a wise idea. What I am trying to say is enjoy driving that Ferrari in the parking lot, there is a reason I pay for 4Mb uncapped at home. BB is watching you.
