At the rate vodacom data travels i will never finish half my bundles before it expires.
I mean i see the hsdpa sign.I get connected but i am running this show with edge and its frustrating, damn it man.I have complained so many times to the data department about this ****ty tower.

I got a sms saying i must get 10 people's numbers that is having the same problem.Only then will they upgrade the towers power thingiemebob.

I dont understand this is a residential area and i dont see anyone else using or hogging bandwidth.I was at work near CPT in a congested area and i got speeds of 3mbps and even faster i think, but here at home i have to resort to sticking the phone/modem or hsdpa modem to the bloody window with prestik and work via bluetooth as the pc is 10m away(with laptop its a bit easy on the brain):D

I cant even build a long usb cable as nature/laws of electronics resistance power amperage..etc dont allow a usb cable to be more that 5 m.
LIFE SUCKS when vodacom TAKES IN ALL THE BUCKS and then we all are F^&ED:rolleyes:

This is a normal night with hsdpa

I'm sure you could get 10 myBB forumites in the Cape Town area to help you out. Any volunteers? C'mon guys!

I've heard of USB to Ethernet cables. I believe they're used to connect USB devices at distance's greater than what USB allows. It somehow converts the signal, sends it over ethernet, and then converts it back. I think it requires a 2 convertor boxes at either end as well.

In any case, this shouldn't be your first option :D

So, give them 10 numbers. Most households these days have 5 or more sim cards floating around. Keep a list of the numbers, and when you log a fault, insist they log it for each number on the list. They might mutter, but usually they'll do it. It gets escalated a lot faster that way :-)

In our house, there are 4 voice contract SIMs (mine, the wife and two kids) 3 voice pre paid sims (two more kids and my old ex-contract sim) and three or four data sims (my contract, the company contract, and two pre-paids to keep going when they bundle is over). Oh, and there is my daughter's "confiscation sim" which she hands in when they confiscate her phone at school, so that she can keep her sim to plug into the spare phone.

My gawd 4 minutes to down load 1.6mb...man thats just pathetic.*pulls eyebrows to the extremities of madness*

the truth of the matter is sometimes i WISH I could download 1.6mb in 4 minutes!

my 3G has been like this for the last month or two :(

Where in Cape Town?

A Vodacom network upgrade is now long overdue. We are still lagging (excuse the pun) behind while other countries are now just shooting ahead. The least they could do now is at least guarantee you a minimum and constant speed even if its not that fast.

Actually, you can extend USB to 25 meters using 5 active USB cables, e.g.: [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/eXpansys-USB-Active-Extension-Cable/dp/B00008W5BM[/ame]
