I got contacted by Sentech today.

Bear in mind, often the best way to do warfare, is to have no anger - just a cheery sadistic glee and desire to communicate something vile about the victim - so a www.sentech4satan.co.za or something, with lots of cheerful advice on how every soul signed up, increases your bandwidth package allowance, along with stolen logo's, fonts and real links to other genuine sentech departments - will drive the marketing people to mass suicide :P

(Whereas a straightforwardly angry site can perhaps be dismissed or shrugged off by Sentech - something with a serious tongue in cheek and a desire to make it difficult to tell the 'real' site from the 'fake' site, is a PR nightmare for a company.. :)

I'm just an anarchist on a cold night, with a warm heater - my apologies :)

Guys here is a good example of what we need to do.

While doing research before buying an apple ibook, I found his parody site of someone that obviously didn't have a good experience with them. I personally disagree with the site (and much was said on the positive side regarding apple on other sites), but here goes:
http://www.lickmysweaty.com/truth

WARNING: Some content on this site may offend some people. They use the F word.

Great site, just imagine what you could do under the SUPPORT section at a fake Sentech site - actually, just about every section could be redone cheerfully and obscenely (or not, as the case may be)

Picture fake interviews with callcentre Orcs, Second Level Support Orcs (ProAsm excluded, of course) and of course interviews with the various Dark Ones and project Heads of Mordor in their conference rooms, and everything linked up, to real email addresses for support@sentech and admin@ etc etc :)

(hmmm - it might need to be 'legally' offshore, just out of the borders of .za - so that no Soprano's moves can be technically made against the hosting ISP or the owner..)

Okay, as a casual inflammatory 'Competition', who's got Photoshop skills and a happy carefree sleazy mind, and can come up with the coolest alternative version to those pix and slogans on Sentech's front page?

*he starts idly storing logo's and pictures from the official site* :)

The sites weren't registered with intent to do explicit damage to Sentech, but naturally it is entirely possible to do so with a couple of handy URL's, should the situation require. This move from Sentech (even though extremely late) is admirable though, and I wish for this service to be succesfull.

It is strange though (as with my ebucks experience) how something like *sucks.co.za manages to grab the attention of the higher business types more than the constant murmuring about problems from their underlings and customers.

Whilst I understand (from daily experience) that shielding is neccesary between end-users and technical and management staff, it is sometimes best to hear it directly from a customer. This is why flat-management-style companies often perform better than hierarchial monoliths, because they understand customer needs faster and get feedback faster. Whilst it can lead to chaos, there is such a thing as organized chaos, and it does work very well, as companies like Bloomberg can attest.

I think the biggest message to Sentech management should be that end-users in this country is no longer content with monolithic structures and mechanisms of customer service such as has been perfected by companies such as Telkom and the state.

We prefer honest, responsible, and open feedback. ProAsm has been one of the exceptions at Sentech so far, and he has literally given Sentech a human face, instead of the image of an endless ticket-number-providing service.

As users, we are all excited about MyWireless. We think it's great. We love the fact that it's an alternative. We read up about the technology, and speculate. We build wireless networks ourselves. We have here on this forum anything from mechanical, electrical, software, and electronic engineers, right down to your average computer enthusiast that revels in building his next super-home-computer. "lusers r dumb" does not qualify as the means to service customers in this country anymore.

ProAsm has done a marvelous job in debunking this everyday South African style customer experience. Unfortunately, he appears to have been the exception, rather than the rule in Sentech. I hope that this can change over time.

In the meantime all I really want is for the service to work as has been advertised and promised, and for Sentech to attempt to communicate more responsibly. Make us feel they actually give a hoot.

Registering another gazillion URL's is entirely possible, but I do feel we're not fighting the spawn of Satan here. Neither do I think that the stonewalling tactics we've seen is acceptable. I consider MyWireless to be remediable, and I'm not entirely willing to give up on it yet.

But for me, it all boils down to promises made, the delivery of service and the right not to be treated like an idiot.

Hmmm. We mustn't forget the ring that binds them all in this tale... Fastcomm. Having been in that kind of situation before too ( customer<---->provider<------>vendor ) I know all too well how crippling a "lame" vendor can be to one's business.

In this case, it is possible that Sentech is being ball-and-chained by two lame vendors, Infranet (SEMA) and Fastcomm (Axcity3G/IPWireless).

Let's not forget these Dark Ones either.

Domains are not owned, they have no right to demand the domain be handed over unless they were registerd with the intension of trying to sell them back to a company.

Government does not even have any jurisdiction over the .za ccTLD
Karnaugh, yes. However, what most companies do, is to use the "Trademark" angle.

the FQN "sentechsucks.co.za." is not a trademark (Well, at the moment it is their trademark)

that could be sent-ech-sucks. Not a single large company has been able to convince a judge that they have a right to a domain, since they just dont. I wouldnt give it up personaly, but I think demandind decent service is a reasonable trade off than the $100 grand that kid got paid by Apple for "mymacintosh.com" or whatever it is.

Nevermind the confusion with www.sentech.com etc. So they dont really have a leg to stand on.. Anyways its not like TheRoDent has even started his campaign (google etc) so they caught it early [:D]

Theres still not much on the infamous page.. so they better behave from now on. We all have much to add if we are still getting screwed after friday...

Yup. Can always just tell them you were referring to the www.sentech.com company instead of their company....wich makes alot of sense. Damn Sentech, they make the crappiest...electronic...gadgets...thingies...stuff I have ever seen on a webpage, over the net, in another country, far away.

If you put up even a small fight, they will most likely back down. The fact that this person phoned you, means that they dont have a leg to stand on, otherwise you wouldve probably gotten a letter from their lawyers like you did last time.

Sentech support contacted me several minutes ago in response to my ticket opened on the 7th May to state that the speed issues will be resolved tomorrow.

If this is true then we are all going to be happy mywireless users again.

Bollocks with resolving the problems! I want Ms Potgieter to contact Sir LoneFunman and discuss those damn favours.

Psssst Rodent....did she sound worthy of handing out any "favours", nudge nudge wink wink

"oh bother" said pooh, as the last standing Telkom employee is blown to pieces with his minigun

You need 'professional' help TS ;)

Kudo's to Rodent for raising this issue to unavoidable levels.

Well, if everyone on the forum decides that Ms Potgieter and myself need to do something, as part payment for the evil service from Sentech, then I guess I'd be willing to take an oral hit, for the team, so to speak..
*phone rings*
Potgieter: Is this LoneGunman?
LG: Yes it is-
Potgieter: We need to meet-
LG: Hmm, well..gee..okay..
Potgieter: When are you available?
LG: Well, umm.. I see the downloads are still at 3k-
Potgieter: I know, I'm sorry about that - so er when can- can we meet?
LG: Umm, (sighs) Okay, neutral territory is best, I think-
Potgieter: Great! I'll book a hotel room and call you right back-
LG: Okay.. (sighs, puts down phone) Damn, the things I do for the Forum..

LG - personally I'd prefer the bandwidth fixed ;-) hehehehe[8D]
