I got hacked! Please help...

3 days ago i got hacked and my wow password had been changed :( the first thing that i thought to try was go and get my password reset so i did that which lead me to try and log onto my hotmail account to retrieve my new wow pass only to find out that my hotmail pass and secret question had been changed aswell! i suspect a keylogger... well anyway i have sent emails to blizzard and hotmail reguarding this and am stil waiting for a reply. I was just wondering if there was anything else i should of done and about how long does it take for them to respond, since the guy dat stole my passes is proberly doing who knows what with my account trying to get it banned aswell! Any help or comments will be appreciated.
 
Damn that sucks... but how the hell could they have gotten your Hotmail *and* Wow logins? :/

well i assume that they go after your email so you cant just restore your WoW pass...
 
nah i think a keylogger found its way onto my pc... nod32 found a trojan, so thats what i assume... sigh :(
 
The chance of someone hacking a hotmail account directly is rather slim. Your keylogger theory sounds more likely.

Download snoopfree privacy shield to check for keyloggers. (It will list a few legit thing too though). Anti-viruses usually only detect the common keyloggers.

my lock got keylogged, sold all her equip and took all her gold + bank items..
she is still naked in shattrath, havent looked at her since.
I opened a ticket and blizzard did nothing.

i cant wait for AoC so I can finally get over WoW

My friends account got hacked, you have to contact blizzard. They eventually sorted his account out and restored 90% of his items and gold. I would say first sort your hotmail out, then sort wow out.

It was also a keylogger and he had nod32 installed (ftl), get Zonealarm Suite (ftw) its a awesome program and asks you if you wanna allow or deny incoming/outgoing data etc.

As soon as you get you account back change your email to a safer one, say a email through your isp or your works email.
 
You *have* to have a personal firewall installed if you play WoW, its simply not an option anymore. I run zonealarm and avg-free, never been hacked. Also, always start up using the loader. If you use mods check each new one for any suspect files (should only be .lua files in the respective folder), and never, ever click the banner ads at WoW sites. Use Firefox rather than IE and keep it updated. Don't browse gold seller sites.
 
As unfortunate as this is for anyone i cant help but say its your own fault, if you didnt mess around with the things you did you wouldnt get a trojan , porn/crack sites are a one way ticket to trojans / spyware so you made your own bed now you gotta sleep in it.
 
Simplest thing to do is if you have to browse suspicious sites, do it on another pc.

Well alot of people that gets hacked are buying gold and honour from chinese farmers and trust them with acounts and passwords if your one
you deserve it those guys spoil the game.

Or use a virtualPC in a virtual session - then you can just delete the image that got infected, and copy the image back from a backup image.

That way you don't need to install antivirus or antispyware stuff on the image - just delete it after use :D
 
FOR THE PORN, lol. get Zonealarm Suite, you should know where from. Sort your hotmail account out asap, or if you want phone Blizzard.
